Melissa Gilbert--Principal

Mrs. Gilbert was born in Omaha. She went to the University of Kearney. It is her first year as a principal in Millard Public Schools. Her last job was at the Johnson School Of The Arts in Iowa. She worked there for four years.

Mrs. Gilbert's family consists of her husband Shawn, her 12 year-old son Cole, and her dog Divot. In her free time, she likes to make jewelry, be with her family, and go shopping. Her favorite children's book is The Poky Little Puppy written by Janette Sebring Lowrey.

Mrs. Gilbert likes Ackerman because of its fun, family atmosphere.

Heidi Penke--Assistant Principal

Mrs. Penke was born in Omaha. She went to college at the University of Kansas, Creighton University and UNO. She has worked in Millard Schools for eight years. This is her ninth year in the school district but it is only her first year here at Ackerman. The other schools she has worked at are Bryan and Reeder.

Mrs. Penke has a family whom she loves to spend time with: a husband, Bryce, and a daughter, Addison, who is two years old. She also likes reading, shopping, and hanging out with friends. Her favorite children’s book is The Magic Hat, by Mem Fox.

There are a lot of things Mrs. Penke likes about Ackerman, but her favorite thing is that the students and teachers are really friendly. She says they make the school great place to be.
