2007-08 KINDERGARTEN PARENTS
Be thinking about scheduling your child's school physical - physicals can be done anytime between now and Aug. 14, 2007.
According to State policy, all incoming kindergarten students are required to have an eye exam by a physician, optometrist, PA or APRN. You can sign a waiver if you choose not to have the exam.
If you know of anyone who has a child that will be five before October 15, 2007 and has not received a letter from Cather, please have them call our office at 715-1315.
Emergency Contacts
If you have changed phone numbers for your home, cell or work phone, please contact the office so we may bring your child's Emergency Information Card up to date.

KIDS NETWORK INFORMATION
The following is a timeline of important dates for Kids Network registration:
March 26 & 27- Registration for current Kids Network families only for school year 2007-08 & summer Kids Network. Registration is held at each Kids Network site. Current families who have a sibling starting Kindergarten for school year 2007-08 can also register them at this time.
March 28, 29, & 30 - Registration at the Foundation office for current Kids Network families who were unable to register at their home site.
May 1 - This is the first day that any child beginning Kindergarten for school year 2007-08 can be placed on the Kids Network wait list. Families must call the Foundation office at 715-1170 to be placed on the list. If the school does not have a wait list, we will instruct these families to come to open registration.
Sat. May 5 - Open registration at the Foundation office located at 14755 Grover Street. Registration will be held from 8:00 AM-10:00 AM. Open positions are on a first come first serve basis. Once positions are filled, a wait list will be started. Families must bring the following information in order to register: a current copy of their child's immunization record, check, cash, or money order for the registration fee which is $40.00 per child (we do not accept credit/debit cards), and a voided check to sign up for automatic tuition deductions.
Families are strongly urged to call the first week in May and check on availability of open positions, so that they do not come to open registration to be placed on a wait list.
Important Information
Safety
The Nebraska State Patrol maintains a website with information on the sex offender registry. Information is available by zip code to see if a registered sex offender may live in your neighborhood. The URL address is:
http://www.nsp .state.ne.us/sor/find.cfm
Stranger Danger Tips
Our school reminds children to follow safety tips when walking to and from school. It is important that children hear this information more than once and that they hear it from adults that they trust.
Children should walk to and from school with a buddy. Parents also can ask an older student to accompany kids on the walk.
Tell children to always refuse to go anywhere with people they don't know.
Tell children that they are not expected to help adults with directions or lost puppies. If a car stops and the driver attempts to ask for help, children should run away.
In potentially dangerous situations, children should make lots of noise to alert neighbors, run to a safe place, or find an adult they can trust.
Also useful for parents: the Nebraska State Patrol maintains a website with information on the sex offender registry. Information is available by zip code to see if a registered sex offender may live in your neighborhood. The address is: http://www.nsp.state.ne.us/sor/find.cfm
Working together, we will keep our community safe.
KIEWIT MIDDLE SCHOOL REGISTRATION
Kiewit Middle School has been registering all fifth grade elementary students in our attendance area. Informative letters will be sent to all fifth grade parents in early April. Elementary teachers have made course recommendations, and middle school counselors and students will be visiting the elementary schools in late April and early May.
On Friday, May 4th, all fifth grade students who will be attending Kiewit Middle School will visit the school for an orientation program. The students will meet some of the teachers, see the sixth grade classrooms, tour the building, listen to an overview of course offerings, and learn about daily procedures. The orientation will begin at 11:15 a.m. and conclude at 2:00 p.m. Students will then return to the elementary schools for dismissal.
Parents are invited to attend a sixth grade parent orientation meeting that will be held at Kiewit Middle School (15650 Howard Street) on Monday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. The administrators and counselors will be available to share information and answer any questions parents may have at that time.
If you have any questions, please call Kiewit Middle School at 715-1470.
