Mrs. Patton - Music Teacher

Hi, I’m Mrs. Patton, Cather’s full-time Music Specialist. I joined the staff here at Willa Cather Elementary School in August of 1993 and have been rockin’ in the music room ever since. We are lucky to have many instruments to play, new books to use (since ‘05), and lots of space to move, dance and play singing games.

I am a Certified teacher in the state of Nebraska, with endorsements in Vocal and Instrumental Music, K - 12. But my favorite part of that is elementary music education. You may know about the various philosophies of elementary music education (i.e. Orff, Dalcroze, Kodaly, etc.). Some teachers emphasize one method over another, but I like to do some of all of them. That way all students get a chance to learn in the method that suits them best.

So if you peek into the music room, don’t be surprised to see anything from children sitting quietly, frozen statues, walking dinosaurs, or a circle game in progress. We will be busy learning about music!
