Crisis Response Team
The Millard Public Schools
Crisis Response Team consists of trained counselors and school psychologists
who respond to the deaths of students and staff members or other crisis situations
that affect our school population. Services provided are tailored to the situation
and may include making telephone calls to inform students and staff of a death
or other crisis, assisting school administrators in planning the crisis response,
meeting with students who are having difficulty handling the news, assisting
teachers in their classrooms when discussing the situation, and supporting staff
and students at funerals and visitations.
Training is provided each year for
team members and they meet regularly to work on practice scenarios, have guest
speakers and share information about previous crises. Several team members have
been trained in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing which can help students
and staff who have been directly involved in a traumatic situation. The team
is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week including summer months and responds
to requests for their services from school administrators through the Director
of Pupil Services.
