Introduction

The Nebraska Enrollment Option Program started with the 1990/91 school year.  Nebraska law enables any Nebraska student, K-12, to option out of the district where they reside and attend a school in a Nebraska public school district in which the student does not reside.  This option is only available once to each student prior to graduation unless the student relocates to a different resident school district or the option school district merges with another district.

Schools or Programs Closed to Enrollment Option

Due to projected enrollment for 2004/2005, some schools and programs are closed to the Enrollment Program for the 2004/2005 school year.  To review the closed programs, refer to Schools or Programs Closed to Enrollment Option.

Application Deadlines

When completing applications for the Enrollment Option Program, applicants should be aware of the following dates:

September 1, 2004:	Earliest date for submitting applications for the 2005/2006 school year.
December 31, 2004:	Deadline for filing applications for the 2004/2005 school year.
March 15, 2005:	State deadline for filing applications for the 2005/2006 school year. (School districts may vote to extend the deadline.  Millard will not determine the extension until January 2005.)

Applications submitted after the March 15 deadline must be accompanied by a written release from the Resident School District that includes a statement of deadline waiver, the signature of the superintendent or school board president, and the date of such action.
