Keith
Lutz, Ed.D.
Dr. Keith Lutz has served the Millard Public Schools since 1989.
He was hired as the assistant superintendent for human resources
and also served as interim superintendent. Following an extensive
national search, Dr. Lutz was selected as the superintendent in
April, 1996.
His educational career was launched in Taylor, North Dakota where
he served as a high school science teacher and coach before being
named the principal in 1971 and the superintendent in 1974. He
then devoted ten years as the superintendent in Elgin, North Dakota.

Returning to college
at East Texas State University, Dr. Lutz completed his doctorate
in 1988. He was on the faculty at Western Illinois University
before coming to Millard in 1989.
Dr. Lutz has authored
many publications and has made presentations at many local, regional
and national conferences. Under his leadership, the Millard district
has become a national leader in the areas of curriculum, student
achievement, technology, strategic planning, and facility management.
In 1997, under his
leadership, the Millard community passed an $89 million bond issue
- which at the time was the largest school bond issue in the history
of Nebraska. The bond issue provided renovations for all of the
district's schools as well as construction of three new schools.
Since 1990, he has
developed a strategic planning system, which guides continual
improvement efforts. Thousands of staff and community members
have participated in this process. His vision for leadership is
to truly involve the staff and community in setting the future
direction of our schools.
