Welcome to Montclair
one of our nation's
"Blue Ribbon Schools!"

Montclair serves a diverse community. We house the traditional neighborhood school, which uses the district curriculum and textbooks. We house a magnet Montessori Program that uses a more "hands-on" and "independent learner" approach and includes a parent-pay preschool. We house a language-oriented preschool program. We have students of various nationalities, religious backgrounds, and languages. At Montclair we embrace and celebrate differences.

Montclair FAQs

Montclair opened during the 1970 - 1971 school year and was renovated during the 1998 - 2001 school years. It serves the neighborhoods of Montclair, Parkside, Georgetown, Crescent Oaks, and Boys and Girls Town.
Montclair is adjacent to the Montclair Community Center.
About 640 students attend Montclair, preschool through fifth grade, including special programs.
There are two classrooms at every grade level in the Traditional Program.
There are also two classrooms per grade level in the Montessori Program. However, Montessori classrooms are multi-aged: three preprimary classrooms (preschool - kindergarten), six primary classrooms (1st - 3rd), four intermediate classrooms (4th & 5th) and two half-day preschool classrooms.
There are two language-oriented preschool classrooms.
Class sizes range between 17 - 28 students per classroom teacher in both the Traditional and Montessori Programs.
Montclair's Information Center is home to a collection of over 10,000 items. Flexible scheduling provides for the incorporation of information and technology skills into the curriculum of all classrooms.
To serve students with verified learning disabilities, we employ 2 special education teachers.
To serve students needing academic support but who do not have a verified learning disability, we employ a reading specialist and a team of paraprofessionals.
To serve students of high ability we incorporate differentiated activities within the classroom, utilize volunteers, and employ certified staff for specific projects.

Montclair is truly a leader in providing unique learning experiences to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for responsible living, life-long learning, and personal success in an increasingly complex society.
