SCHOLARSHIP REGOGNITION AND OMAHA
WORLD HERALD DEADLINE
The Omaha World Herald will be running a separate scholarship section
this spring along with their selection containing the All-Academic Team
and World Herald Scholars. They will also list all scholarships for
all seniors from area high schools. Millard South must send their winners
to the World Herald on April 25, 2008. Please have your student turn
in all awards they are offered – including those that they are
not planning to accept. We want them to be recognized for all their
hard work. Please also include the dollar amount of each award. The
dollar value of scholarships is confidential and will not be given to
the World Herald. It is requested for use in total dollar values reported
for an entire school or for certain areas like all academic scholarship
totals, all athletic totals, etc. The name of the student is not identified
with any dollar values displayed or printed anywhere. The deadline to
get scholarships listed in the commencement program is also April 25,
2008.
The Personal Learning Plan
The Personal Learning Plan (PLP) provides a systematic way for advisors/teachers to personalize each student’s learning experience in high school. This document creates an overview of a student’s individual interests, strengths, and areas of concern and creates a system to better utilize this information to help students create and reach individualized goals. This is a web-based document that students can access directly from the Millard South homepage. A completed PLP is part of the graduation requirements, so we encourage students to update their document on a regular basis during their four years of high school.
Counselor Summer Hours
The Millard South Counseling Center will be open at some specific times during the summer for students and parents who need assistance. The exact date and times have not been determined. Please call 715-8436 if you need assistance. The office will be CLOSED the week of June 30 - July 4.

College in Milford? Ninth and tenth grade parents in particular need
to be aware that some programs at Milford can be full approximately
two years ahead of when seniors graduate. Therefore, applying early,
before your student reaches their senior year is advised. The programs
that typically fill in advance are Architectural Engineering Technology,
Building Construction Technology, Auto Collision Repair Technology,

and are able to move accepted students up on the list, but it is to
