Student Conservation Association
Undecided about what you want to do after you graduate? Like working outdoors??
You might want to look into Student Conservation Program. Each summer,
participants serve in picturesque parks, forests, and other sites throughout
the nation under the supervision of trained, experienced crew leaders.
Crews, consisting of six high school crew members, will spend six to seven weeks in the field conducting vital conservation projects for natural resource partners such as the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and others.
Backcountry or frontcountry, the work is challenging
and often strenuous – but the rewards are just as intense. Students
participating in this program receive:
- Outdoor training and work experience, while helping to protect our
natural resources.
- Environmental education, which is an integral part of the program.
- An opportunity to travel and explore new areas of the country and
a chance to know students from all over the United States and Canada.
For more information, see Mrs. Powers in the Counseling Center or log on at www.sca-inc.org.
