Kansas State Engineering Day
KSU is inviting juniors and seniors interested in engineering to their Engineering Day on February 15. In addition to giving students an in-depth look at the College of Engineering, KSU will be discussing career opportunities and the latest challenges in the field of engineering, and other aspects of college life. Registration is due by February 1, see Mrs. Powers for more information.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the means of applying for state, federal and college-specific financial aid. February is typically the time to apply for aid as many colleges have a March 1 priority deadline. ( Contact the colleges you applied to and ask about their priority deadlines.) Follow these steps to complete the FAFSA:
Step 1: Request a PIN www.pin.ed.gov
Step 2: File your taxes early
Step 3: Gather required items
Step 4: Complete and file the FAFSAwww.fafsa.ed.gov
For free assistance with the FAFSA, make an appointment with EducationQuest. Call the Omaha office at 391-4033. Call now as appointments are quickly filling up. |

I earned a scholarship – now what do I do?
- Take a copy of your award letter to your counselor.
- If you do not have an extra copy, take the original to the Counseling Center and a copy will be made for you.
- Report ALLscholarships you have been awarded, even if you know you will have to turn some of them down. You need to be recognized for all your hard work.
- If you are an athlete and have earned athletic scholarships, you must report ALLyour offers.
- This information will appear in both the graduation program and The Omaha World Herald. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Harrach at 715-8429 or the Counseling Center at 715-8436 .

ATTENTION DRUG-FREE YOUTH
PRIDE-Omaha is pleased to announce the Liz Karnes Memorial Scholarship for Drug-Free Youth. This is a $1,000 award for a drug-free senior who have lived modeled and promoted a drug-free life style. See the rack for all the information and an application. Deadline: February 15, 2008.

Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP)
This program was established to increase educational opportunities for students who live in Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota & Wisconsin. If a student currently resides in one of these states and plans to attend college in one of the other participating states, the student may be eligible to receive reduced out-of-state tuition rates at designated community colleges, colleges or universities who are participating in the program. Your counselor has information on this program and lists of schools that participate. Some examples of schools that participate in this program are Northwest Missouri State University, Missouri State University, University of Minnesota, Truman State, Drury University, Kansas & Kansas State, plus many more. Here is an example of how the MSEP program would work:
Public college out-of-state tuition – $8,000
Public college in-state tuition - $4,000
Your MSEP tuition (150% of in-state tuition) - $6,000
Your savings - $2,000
Private college tuition - $10,000
MSEP discount (minimum of 10%) - $1,000
Your MSEP tuition - $9,000
Your savings - $1,000
These are only examples, please contact the participating institutions for actual rates.
REMEMBER:
- Not all colleges participate
- At certain colleges, only certain majors are eligible for this program, and
- A number of participating schools have a limit to the number of students they will accept into this program.

The Delta Theta Chi Sorority is offering three scholarships worth up to $2,500 for students who will enroll for classes at accredited colleges and universities. You must have a high scholastic average and evidence of financial need. Deadline: February 1, 2008 .

The University of Nebraska at Omaha College of Business of Administration is offering several scholarship awards to interested students. More information about specific scholarships can be found at http://cba.unomaha.edu and click on “STUDENTS.” Applications are available on the rack.
