Kohl’s is now accepting nominations for the Kohl’s Kids Who Care program. This program recognizes young people, ages six through 18, for their volunteer activities. Nominees could ultimately receive one of the ten $5,000 scholarships. To complete the nomination form, log on to www.kohlskidswhocare.com. Deadline: March 15, 2008.

METRO OPPORTUNITIES
Metro Community College is again offering the foundation and private scholarships. Some are need based and others are not. The minimum GPA is a 2.50. Please read the entire application to make sure you are turning in all required documentations. See the rack. Deadline: March 14, 2008.

The Gus Swanson Memorial Communications Scholarship is offering a $500 award. To be eligible you must have a 3.25+ GPA, attend a Nebraska college or university and plan to major in: advertising, marketing, communication studies, mass communication (print or broadcast), public relations, journalism or graphic design/desktop publishing. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BROADCASTING?
WOWT-TV is offering two $1,000 broadcasting scholarships to area seniors. To be eligible you must have a 3.0+ GPA and plan topursue a career in TV Broadcast Journalism, TV Broadcast Production, TV Broadcast Engineering, TV Broadcast Marketing and/or Communications. Interested in a career in the railroad industry???
National Academy of Railroad Sciences (NARS), located on the campus of Johnson County Community College (JCCC) in Overland Park, Kansas, is a railroad training center. NARS has over 100,000 square feet of classrooms and labs to help you prepare for a career in the railroad industry as a conductor, welder or mechanical employee. The relationship between JCCC and NARS has allowed for the creation of “Fast Track” Associates Degree programs. These programs allow you to complete your training within 6-8 weeks and are ready to start a potentially lucrative career. STRAT ROOST??
The Stratigic Roost of the Association of Old Crows is offering five$1,000 scholarships. You must be planning to major in Electrical Engineering, other “hard science” engineering curricula, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, etc. See the rack. Deadline: March 14, 2008.

GOING TO IOWA WESTERN CC??
If you are planning to attend Iowa Western CC, stop by and see Mrs. Harrach for a scholarship application. Hurry! Deadline: March 15, 2008.

UNITED LATINO OFFERS $$$
The United Latino Endowment Selection Committee is offering a $500 scholarship. To be eligible you must be of Latino descent, have financial need and have a GPA between 2.5 and 3.5. See the rack for all of the information. Deadline: March 17, 2008.

MILITARY CONNECTED??
The Offutt Chiefs’ Group (OCG) is offering three $500 scholarships. To be eligible you must be a dependent of an enlisted member form any US Armed Service (including Active Duty, Retired, Reserve or National Guard), have a minimum 2.5 GPA and planning to attend college, vocational training or business school. See the rack for an application. Deadline: March 15, 2008.

A $1,000 OPPORTUNITY
The James M. Cox Foundation is offering a $1,000 scholarship award to students with financial need. See the application for all of the required documents needed to complete the process. The committee will also consider other factors, obstacles or extenuating circumstances that a family may be experiencing such as financial burden, medical expenses, death of a parent and/or disabilities in making a decision for the award. Deadline: March 15, 2008.

We are starting to add up the awards from the Class of 2008!! Don’t be left out! Please bring in your award letters so we can make a copy and add it to our total. Remember, we need the awards whether you are accepting them or not.
