ACT & SAT Preparation Classes – The Assistance League of Omaha has provided preparation classes for the ACT and PSAT for many years at a very reasonable cost. The ACT review will be at Westside High School (87th & Pacific). Students who register attend class twice – once on either Monday, October 22 or Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24 or Thursday, October 25. The classes last from 6:30-9:30 PM and cost a total of $30. Additionally, the Assistance League is offering an ACT Plus Writing Prep class on either Monday, October 22 or Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24 - 6:30 - 9:30 PM plus new offering - ACT Writing Test Course
Thursday, October 25 only - 6:30 - 8:30 PM. The cost for this class is $40. Registration forms are available in the Counseling Center.

The 2006-2007 edition of the Post-Secondary Planning Guide is packed full of scholarship information including the most up-to-date listing of the Millard Public Schools Foundation scholarships, financial aid, college selection and career information to help organize your senior year and beyond. Mark your calendar and plan to attend this presentation - Tuesday, September 11th with the college representatives available at 6:00 pm and the program beginning at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium. If you can’t make it, be sure to tell your parents. This is a great way to get started on your post-secondary planning.

IT’S THE REAL THING !!
The Coca-Cola Scholarship is here!! The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is offering 250 merit-based scholarships. Fifty (50) awards are for $20,000 (payable over four years) and 200 awards are for $10,000 (payable over four years). What kind of students become Coca-Cola scholars? Well-rounded individuals with highly developed interests in their community. You have to apply on-line. The web-based application is at www.coca-colascholars.org. Millard South had two finalists last year!! Deadline: October 31, 2007.

LATINO SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Heartland Latino Leadership Conference & Expo (HLLC) will award academic scholarships to Latino youth wishing to pursue a college education in the state of Nebraska. To be eligible you must be of Latino/Hispanic heritage and planning to attend a Nebraska post-secondary school. See Mrs. Harrach for all the information. Deadline: October 1, 2007.

UNL Chemistry Day
This year’s program will feature a variety of fun and informative overview of UNL’s Chemistry Program. The event will be held on October 6, from 9:00 am - 2:30 pm. Lutheran Educational Conference of North America is hosting a Lutheran College Fair on Thursday, September 20, 2007. This event will be held at the Omaha Marriott in Regency beginning at 7:00 with a financial aid seminar and the fair running from 7:30 – 9:00 PM. ARE YOU HEISMAN WORTHY?
For the past thirteen years, Wendy’s Restaurants have teamed up with the Heisman Memorial Trophy Committee to create the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. The award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership. To be eligible you must be a senior with a 3.0 + GPA and must have participated in at least one of the 33 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools.
