ASVAB TEST
On Tuesday, October 23, 8:00 AM-Noon, the ASVAB Test will be given to assist students in identifying abilities, interests, and personal preferences. School will not be session the 23rd because of Parent/Teacher conferences. The ASVAB is an excellent tool designed to help students understand and explore their potential and future career possibilities. This test is for juniors and seniors. There is no charge! This is also the test that the military uses for placement in military jobs. A booklet with more explanation will be given to those who sign up. There is no obligation to the military! Students may sign up now with Mrs. Grazziano in the Counseling Center.

LOOKING TO GO WEST!
You should think about attending the University of
Wyoming.
They offer a special scholarship for Nebraska
residents called the Peak Achievement Scholarship . This
award is valued at between $4,000 and $7,000.

“WAYNE-WARD” BOUND????
Wayne State College has many opportunities for students to earn scholarship awards. Here is a partial list of awards offered:

  • John G. Neihart Scholars ProgramFull tuition, room waiver, and $500 stipend - This program includes special honors classes and advising. You must heave an ACT score of 25 or above and either rank in the top 25% your class or have a 3.5+ GPA.
  • Omaha World Herald Scholarship Full tuition and room waiver – This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been very active in high school leadership and plans to continue that level of involvement at Wayne State College. You must also have an ACT score of 25 or higher and either rank in the top 25% or have 3.5+ GPA.
  • Leadership Award – Room Waiver - This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been very active in high school leadership and plans to continue that level of involvement at Wayne State College.
  • Multicultural Tuition Award –Full tuition – a limited number of scholarships are offered to entering African-Americans, Asian and Pacific Islanders, Hispanic Americas and Native American students who have shown successful academic and extracurricular participation.
  • Additional Awards – Students who apply for and qualify for the Neihart and the OWH may be considered for other merit-based scholarships such as the Presidential Scholarship (full tuition), Dean’s scholarship ($1,500), and Academic Achievement Scholarship ($500).

To apply for these scholarships you must submit two letters of recommendation, a listing of activities, awards, honors, positions and responsibilities received or held which demonstrate your involvement in your high school and community, and write a 400-500 word essay on the following: Describe a situation or activity in which your leadership has had a positive impact on an individual or group.

***Please note that you need to apply by the priority deadline of December 1, 2007. Don’t miss out on these opportunities.
