The Power Of ONE!
The Power of MANY!
The asset concept is simple and based on common sense: Young people need positive external supports and internal strengths to succeed in life. And, most important, they need people to help nurture these assets. Assets not only promote positive behaviors, but they also protect young people: The more assets a young person reports having, the less likely he or she is to make harmful or unhealthy choices.

The assets provide a framework for action that encourages all individuals to make a differnece, no matter who they are or what their lives are like. As we work together on behalf of young people we ensure that they receive consistent messages and treatment. We ourselves benefit because we connect with people who share our ideals, our vision and our commitments.

  • Everyone can build assets.
  • All young people need assets.
  • Relationships are key.
  • Asset building is an ongoing process.
  • Consistent messages are important.
  • Intentional repetition is important.

Whether you are acting on the power of one or rallying the power of hundreds, by focusing on the relationships, opportunities, skills, values, and self-perceptions - the assets - that young people need, you are laying the foundation for a great many wonderful things to come.
