  In groups, read the picture books on WWII, answer the Diversity Questionnaire, and present it in your groups on Wed.

Work on the picture book pre-reading questionnaire, and be ready to present on Wednesday in your group.

Bring in an article on Global Warming that will support your position on Global Warming….this means whether you believe in Global Warming or you don’t believe in Global Warming, and finding that one article that supports your beliefs, and read it.  Be ready to discuss it on Thursday. 

Read the entire chapter in our 9 Good Habits book on Global Warming.  Be ready to discuss this and your articles on Thursday! 

Pass out class novels on  WWII, and begin reading Chapters 1-3 after pre-reading discussion in class today!  Novels are:

The Geography of China

 - The students read, took notes, and discussed the geography of China. What a diverse landscape!

 

-We continued exploring our guiding question: How are people affected by their environment?

Geography of China/Terra Cotta Warriors

 - The students received 4 minutes to study on their own for their Lesson 1: Geography of China quiz. Then as a group we practiced our vocabulary by doing kinesthetic actions and saying the definitions out loud. We also played “Simon Says” with these same actions. The students then took their quiz.

 

-Finally the students learned about the 7, 500 ancient Terra Cotta Warriors that were discovered in China.

China’s Past

- The students activated their prior knowledge of ancient things and their value to modern society. We then read, discussed, and took notes over ancient China.

 

 Homework: 

*Finish study guide (notes & vocabulary).

  • Information to complete these notes/vocabulary can be found pp.106-113.
  • Lesson 2 quiz on Friday!

 

 

China’s Present

-Mrs. Curtis our wonderful media specialist came in to present to the students about her travels in China. She gave an interactive slide-show lecture about the people, customs, and history of China. She passed around many terrific things that she brought back with her. The students learned a lot and enjoyed this experience.

China’s Past

- The students had about 5 minutes to review for their quiz. , hen they took the quiz.

 

-We spent some time reviewing material about the geography of China, because I felt like many students needed some clarification on the concepts from this lesson.

 

-Finally, we talked about Current Events in the news.
