MORE SUMMER READING - Mr. Paul Christopherson from the Omaha Public Library - Millard Branch - spoke to classes today inviting them to join in the many summer evens sponsored by the Omaha Public Library and encouraging them to read, read, read throughout the summer. Brief summaries of the books Mr. Christopherson spotlighted are given on the 2009 Middle School Young Adult SRP Booklist
OPL SUMMER READING PROGRAM encourages children and teens to read by offering special events and exciting prizes from June 1 through August 1, 2009. The program, entitled “Be Creative @Your Library” for kids and “Express Yourself @ Your Library” for teens, gets under way with a special kickoff party held in partnership with the Omaha Parks and Recreation’s Sun Dawgs Program at Elmwood Park, 802 S. 60th St., May 31, 4-6 p.m. (weather permitting).

RUSSELL MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE NEWS -- T-WOLVES ROCK!
Pictures Paint A Thousand Words For Young Patients: Art students at Millard's Russell Middle School are coming in early and staying late for a special assignment, paintings for a new addition at Children's Hospital. Their artwork will be on permanent display to help brighten stays for young patients. The project has an even deeper purpose for some. See the video and read the full article from the WOWT broadcast. 6th Grader Puts Squeeze on Ketchup Competition: 12 Year-old's artwork will appear on nearly 20 million Heinz ketchup packets It’s big compliment for a Russell Middle School student's work on condiments. Russell students help decorate new hospital wing:
The paint brushes are getting a workout at Russell Middle School. For four weeks, art students have been coming in early and staying late to create colorful and whimsical water animals. The 30 paintings will decorate the new addition at Children’s Hospital, which is due to open this fall. Read entire article.
