The Learning Center

Greetings!!!

The Learning Center is designed for academic and behavioral assistance for students. The Learning Center staff this year will be Janet Perrone ( Learning Center teacher), Betty Ortiz (paraprofessional) and Laurie Brodeur (HAL teacher). We envision the Learning Center as primarily a place for learning. Although discipline will be a part of the duties of the Learning Center, we hope this is only a small part. This means students who are struggling, need a little extra boost, have been absent, are new to the district, or need some extra challenges (HAL) will be provided some space and assistance. The Learning Center provides many opportunities for student differentiation and success.

P.E. Activities Menu

The Learning Center is:

  • A place for students before (7:15 a.m.) and after (until 3:30 p.m.) to work and get help.
  • A place for before/after school reteaching for ELO’s.
  • A place for classroom tests/assignments after an absence when it is not appropriate for the student to be in the regular classroom.
  • A place for students to receive some extra challenges (HAL).
  • A place for district level “make-up” assessments.
  • A place for staff to come for strategy assistance from the LC personnel for organizational, academic, behavioral, and differentiation of instruction.
  • A place for short-term organizational skills.
  • A place for short-term academic assistance plans as identified in a MIT.
  • A place for learning behavioral modification strategies.
  • A place for before/lunch/after detentions assigned by administrators.
