"The last Tuesday of the year", is what came to mind when I walked into the room today. In fact, it was also our last Tuesday at Willowdale Elementary! Sad, but true. But, if you want to find out what we did during this very special day, you'll have to read on!

The first thing that happened on this very special day was that I noticed that we had a morning sheet on science sitting on our desk. I started to think that I'd never get it done, but once I looked at it, I knew I'd finish by the end of the day. The problems on it were all sort of related. What we had to do was fill in the blanks with letters to make a word. One was, _ _ _ _ _ S_ _ _ _ _. The answer I got was, Solar System. I hope that's right.

Next we had a very special event that happens only once a year. Do you know what it is? You probably do, but for the people who don't go to Willowdale, I'll tell you. It was the TALENT SHOW!!! Yaaayyy! Again, for the people who weren't there, Mrs. Kelley opened the talent show. After that short announcement, it began! There were many acts, but my personal favorites were the tumbling acts. There were also many piano acts. About five to be exact. In the end, everyone did great. Also, every once in a while, they would give out awards to some people. Some were awards for participating in chorus, safety patrol, and other things like that.

When we got back from the talent show, I was thinking about all the overwhelming talent I just saw. But before I could finish my thoughts, Miss Everts interrupted. She said we were going to take our science test everyone had been studying for, for the last week. We were given instructions to give Miss Everts the test when we were done. One example of a problem was, "What is a sundial?" The answer was "An instrument that relies on the movement of the sun's shadow to work." By the way, a sundial tells time by using the sun.

Just as our heads were going to explode with TONS of facts, we were able to take a break, and just read. For S.Q.U.I.R.T. I'm reading The People Of Sparks. It's the sequel to The City Of Ember. So far it's GREAT! While we were reading our wonderful books, Miss Everts called us up to golf. I only made one of the two shots I got, but I still got a piece of candy!

The next thing on the list for this very special day was, of course the most treasured of all subjects, study hall. Some days we don't even get one, but today, we got 25 whole minutes of it! At the end we looked at our science tests we took earlier today. Miss Everts said it was one of the better tests we've taken so far. That was considering that we have had some bad tests.

Usually people don't mention lunch too much, but today lunch was special. We had a PIZZA PARTY!!!!! We had the choices of cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. I had pepperoni, because it's my favorite. We also had pop, cookies, and chips to eat with the pizza. Next was recess. We stayed out for about 45 minutes because we had gotten all 50-class points. We get them when we are good, and behave.

After our sweating bodies got back in from recess, we had writing. We actually had two things we did, but they were both fun. One was to write a paragraph on your favorite school memory. The other one was to write at least a paragraph on where you'll be in thirty years. I found that one especially fun. The last thing we did in writing was we got to read each other's interactive stories! I think that was the best part of writing.

For the last subject on this very special day was health. The day before, us girls had watched the girl version of "Growing Up." Today we watched the opposite, the boy’s version. In the other classes, the boys watched the girl's version of "Growing Up." I found it was a little uncomfortable. But I knew it was life, and it was very important information.

Sadly, this very special day did come to an end. For the last half an hour or so, we did our assignment notebooks, and had a snack. The reason we had a snack was because we had some extra chips from the pizza party. YUMMY!! As we packed up went out the door, we knew there would be no more Tuesdays left at Willowdale Elementary.

It was a Monday morning, but it wasn't a usual one because everyone wasn't tired and sleepy. Why? It's because there were only 3 1/2 days of school left. I was very happy but we had to realize that we were still in school and we had to pay attention. First off we had to do a spelling sheet that was on our desk. In my opinion it was very easy and I was done in a blink. For the rest of the time we could work on any homework that we had or just read.

1+1=2. Next was math. Today basically all we did was we worked on a review sheet that was due Wednesday. It was 3 pages long, front and back.

We cut math short and went into the computer lab. While we were in there we worked on our Interactive Stories, which are stories in which you get to choose what you are going to do next. Basically, we transferred all our writing into the Internet in story form. It took a while, but it was really easy.

When we were finally done with that, we scurried off to music. In music we watched a movie about singers making a song to raise money for people living in Africa. They raised millions and millions of dollars. Wow!

When we came back from music, we had a spelling test. This was kind of unusual, but it was because we were at Track and Field Day at Millard West last Friday.

After that we fell into the rhythm of a normal school day by sinking into our SQUIRT books. We also got a sucker from Brittney for her birthday. Mmm!

Miss Everts woke us up by saying that we were going to watch a Bill Nye movie on space. We have been studying space for a long time now and we have a test tomorrow on it! Miss Everts also said we must have 5 facts we didn't know written down in our notebooks and any extra were extra credit. That led us right up to lunch.

Lunch followed that, as I already said. I had pepperoni pizza that turned out to be cheese pizza. I didn't mind too much. After we gulped down our food, we headed out to recess, as usual.

When we stumbled into the classroom we were all red- faced and hot. We cooled down by listening to our Teacher Read book, The Gentlemen Outlaw and Me- Eli, which is very good and which I would recommend. We actually finished the book.

After that, Miss Everts and the other 5th grade teachers divided the 5th grade into groups. We watched different health videos and discussed them.

"Remember, we had a Morning Sheet due tomorrow," Miss Everts reminded us. We did assignment notebooks next.

Did you study for your science test? Of course, everyone did. It showed when we redid a Quizzler on space. When we were finished, we showed Miss Everts our score or took it home to finish it there.

"Yay!" Everyone cheered when Mr. Vincent came in with his keyboarding supplies. He taught us 4 more keys, the Q, Z, comma, and apostrophe. Hey, look; I'm using the comma so I must have been taught well.

When we were done working our fingers off, we packed up and went home, but not without gaining a few class points from Miss Everts for having a great day.

As I happily walked into the fifth grade hallway I noticed it was a lot quieter than usual. This was because last night was our Fifth Grade Farewell, and lots of people were screaming and yelling during the movie and during tug of war. Not to brag, but the girls won four times in a row! Good job!

Now to get back to Friday, wait Friday? This is even better, after today we have two whole days of complete relaxation or just to have fun. To put the cherry on top today was track and field day. Fourth and fifth graders get to go to Millard West. There we get to have fun doing our track and field day events.

When I got into the classroom and looked at the board, I saw that there was nothing on the board except for a message that said to do the spelling sheet on our desks. We had to fill in the bubble next to the correctly spelt words. Just then the bell rang, and we all stood to say the Pledge of Allegiance, then the one and only Kid of Character Pledge. It was 8:50 when Miss Everts started to talk to us about the rules of track and field day.

At 9:00 the busses arrived and we, the fourth and fifth graders, were about to have the best day of elementary school. When we finally got to Millard West we all got settled. The first runners were the fifth grade boys running the 400 meter run, which was all the way around the track. After the all the fifth grade boys were the fifth grade girls. Then the fourth graders running all the way around the track, as this was happening my very own teacher, Miss Everts was saying “Go”, by shooting the gun into the air to start the race. After the 400 meter races, came the 200 meter races, which was half way around the track. Once again, after the fifth graders raced by, came fourth grade. The people who weren’t racing were eating in the bleachers, or cheering on the runners! Last but definitely not least was the people running the 50 meters.

After all the 50 meter runners were the team races. First were the girl’s teams, then the boy’s teams. Next, the coed teams. My team won! Then we took a break and ate our snacks or lunches. While some were doing this others were playing with their water bottles, racing across the field, and some, like me, were tumbling in the field.

About an hour later we all split into our groups for the field events. There were three different groups, the long jump, the soccer kick, and the baseball throw. The long jump looked really, really difficult. When we were done with this, we all played tug of war. Everts class won three times in a row, and then got beat by fourth graders. Some of the kids did the three legged race, and some did the shoe kick, personally I did really bad at both of them. After a long, hot day of fun it was time to pick up and go back to school. Everyone picked up two things, and loaded everything on to the bus. As we left, we were all thinking we couldn’t wait till next year’s track and field day. When we got back to school we were all talking about how much fun we had at Millard West. We all went into the gym for awards, if you got first place, you got a blue ribbon. To our surprise we got popsicles. When our sweating bodies got back to our classrooms, we did our assignment notebooks. Then we all packed up, cleaned the inside and outside of our desks. Then we left wondering what next week, the last week of school, would bring us, but for now we just wanted to race out of the classroom and have some fun!

Wow it was hot outside as we entered the classroom. Today was Thursday and the day before the 4th and 5th grade Track and Field day, which is really fun. Luckily, we started off today with only a spelling sheet, which wasn't the hardest yet.

As the clock said 9:00 AM, we went our separate ways to different math classes. Today 6th grade math did an amazing thing by all getting A's on their test. In the main classroom, we did a math review game the entire hour and 25 minutes. I call it the Math card problem review game. What you do is you take questions and answer them in 1 minute. You'd think we were having a recess in math class by how much fun we were having.

What’s this I hear?.... I think... wait... oh I've got it, we're listening to our garage band songs and the longest one was an amazing 3 minutes and 49 second by Tanner. They were all great, just as good as a frog is at hopping.

We made our way scurrying along as we entered the classroom. The paper-passers passed out the papers and once again we did a spelling sheet. "Move away" I said because I was dive-bombing into my squirt book as we finished our spelling sheet. I am reading a mystifying comedy called "Something's Fishy at McDonald Hall" about 2 pranksters who are getting blamed for stuff they didn't do and they must figure out who did it.

Something was disturbing my reading when I recognized it was Miss Everts' voice saying please stop reading. By then I had finished my book. Now our classmate Nash shared his memory bag about his book. I really like his connections with the book because they were so out of the ordinary.

Wait a second; what’s this, Miss Everts is pulling a T.V. into the classroom. Quickly, make a bonus guess what this is. How'd you know it was a heath video called "Feelings Inside Outside Upside", which was about how you will start to have different feelings as you get older? In the middle of the excellent movie we put down the popcorn to answer some questions Miss Everts asked us. After putting more butter on we watched the rest of the movie.

Do you know what a Meteorite is? Well if you don't you should start studying because we had 2 tricky worksheets to complete. Only to save the day we got a handy vocabulary glossary that told us what we needed to know for the answers. Spelling Aces were getting passed around for other definitions until all the sudden Miss Everts says, "Lets get ready for lunch." I glance at my watch which yells out loud, " It's only 12:45 PM" so we should wait 10 minutes, or should we? To our special surprise, we got to go early to lunch and recess which was so hot we all got scorched and a bit tan.

Sweating from the heat we walked panting like my dog after a walk back in to the classroom. The keyboarding gear was set up, but there was no Mr. Vincent. Then we were informed that Miss Everts was giving us the following letters P, V, X, M and of coarse right now I'm using them well.

What’s this? We're going back in time to the gold rush, well not really, but we went into teacher read and we are still reading "The Gentleman Outlaw” while 3 people at a time went and edited their Interactive Story and put it in the server. We did this until 2:40, when we did the wonderful assignment notebooks. The overhead was turned on and we saw that we were playing Newsbowl for 20 minutes. My question was, what is given the Tony awards? Well you may have known that it is for Broadway Music but I didn't.

Today for 30 minutes we had an author who is only in 8th grade, almost a freshman, named Katie Miller come in and talk to us. Her series is called the "Oracle of the Horses" and it has 5 books. But she has only finished the first. Once when she was writing it, she lost about 300 pages on her computer. After a heart attack, not literally, and some screaming her mom came and got it all back somehow. She did a book signing at Barnes & Nobles along with her friend Kelly who was the illustrator. Then she said good-bye and left, we picked up 14 pieces of trash off the floor and walked out of school knowing that tonight we would meet again at the 5th grade Farewell, which is our very fun graduation that took place at Russell Middle School. Russell is where most kids are going to go to school next year. But before we got there we walked into the sun, which could have baked you alive as we left this school day.

Some people played kick ball and some people played basketball we waited for the bell to ring. Then we heard the bell ring. As we walked in we saw a one sided sheet on our desk.

After thirty minutes of working on the one sided sheet we decided to work on math. Guess what we did, a review on all the things we learned in math.

Next was gymsic it was the last day because next week was the end of school. We got to use these parachutes to shoot up balls.

After gymsic we watched a movie about genes. They showed us about how some genes are dominant and some genes are recessive. Then we got to design a character with traits we picked out of a bag.

Then we went into a relaxing time Squirt.

Next, it was time for unit studies. We checked our review sheets. Then we got a quizzler to practice for our test.

Finally, we had lunch and study hall. Everyone was ready for a new day.

Hooray! Today is Wednesday so that means that we get out of school at 2:00! When I walked into the classroom from the chaos in the hallway I saw that on my desk was a short spelling sheet! Yaaaa! Luckily I got it done before it was time for math. One of the questions was Library is to books as is to paintings. Yep, your right the answer is museum!

Finally, it was time for math. We didn't do much in math today because we only had until 9:45 this morning. We sure did use all that time though. We had whole 3 pages of math review. It had all kinds of things from fractions to story problems. I hope that everyone got theirs done.

Next what was sure to be interesting was gymsic. Today for the one time this year we worked with parachutes! We even did something were you catapult balls into the air like the parachute is an erupting volcano! Wow, that is a lot of fun.

Once we got back from an exciting time in gymsic we got right back into our classroom and started into health. In health today we watched a movie about genetics! Did you know that our genes even tell us how big our nose is going to be when we become adults? After we watched the video we picked some genetic traits from a paper bag. After that we drew a person according to the traits that we drew!

At last it was time to relax and get sucked into our great books! I also noticed as I looked around I saw people enjoying their scrumptious snacks of crackers and Chex Mix.

Miss Everts told us to stop in a good place at the end of Squirt but I don't think anybody wanted to stop. Next we went in to our never-ending science class. In science today we didn't have to write any notes! All we did today was check our review sheet so we could study on it for our test on Tuesday. For the last part of science we got a new Quizzler on our handheld. A Quizzler is like a quiz on your handheld and this one was on space! We have to do well on it too because Miss Everts is going to check how good we are doing on Friday. An example of a question is Inner Planets are what? The answer is small and made of rock!

Guess what was next. Yep you were right, next was lunch. After lunch was recess and man it was really nice outside today!

Next was finally the last part of the day. At this time we could work on our little homework that we have gotten assigned over the day. Miss Everts also read the teacher read book to us. The book that Miss Everts is reading is The Gentlemen Outlaw and Me, Eli. We are just barely not done with the book. I sure hope that we finish it tomorrow. At the end of the day I was laughing as I walked out of the school into the magnificent day.
