Today we made popcorn in our classroom as part of a reading and writing activity. Our story this week was called "All That Corn". In it a family ate popcorn.

First we looked at popcorn "seeds". We talked about the kernels and described them. Next, Miss Jensen put some oil and four kernels in the pot. She put the pot on a burner and we waited to hear the kernels pop. POP! POP! POP! POP! After the four kernels popped, Miss Jensen put in some more popcorn. Then, we watched them pop and it sounded like firecrackers. Last, we ate the buttery popcorn and wrote about it in our journals. It was fun and a taste sensation!

(We have been reading The Pigeon Finds a Hotdog by Mo Willems thus the "taste sensation".)

The science experiment was about soil: humus soil, sandy soil and clay soil. First we looked at the soils with a magnifying glass. Then, we added water to the soils and stirred them with a stick. We talked about the soils. Mrs. Kelley even came in and helped us! It was fun!
This week four people in our class lost one tooth each!
Matthew lost a tooth on Tuesday. Rebekah lost a tooth on Thursday. Today, two people lost a tooth. Jamisha and Grant lost them today. Loosing teeth is FUN!
