We have started two spelling lists! Both lists focus on a medial short a sound. The B list is for those who got all ten of the words correct on the pretest.
Your child brought home his or her pretest attached to the word list that he or she is to study this week.
The list of words is on pink paper.
Don't forget to have your child practice writting the words as well as spelling them out loud. It will help with catching letter reversals.

Thank you to all that attended Curriculum Night last night. I appreciate your questions and concerns. I am looking into some websites for use at home. I will send a list on my new letter and have the links added to our first grade page. Feel free to email me about any that you know about.
Thank you for the support in providing additional resources to our classroom! I am looking forward to seeing the volunteers in the room! I am also excited about the offer parents made to help out by working on projects at home.
Thanks again for your time last night, I truely enjoyed seeing each of you!
We have several students who are allergic to nuts, both tree nuts and peanuts. If you are providing a snack for the class please check the ingredients. It is amazing what foods may have nut products in them or may have been prepared in the same setting as other items with nuts.
Many children bring snacks to school. If your child is one of them, please do not send anything with nuts, such as trail mix. Peanut butter in items that only your child will be eating is fine.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this!
Our first spelling list went home today!
Please help your child study the words over the course of the week. We will have our spelling tests on Fridays.
A fun idea is to write the spelling words outside using sidewalk chalk. Just a few minutes practice every day will make a huge difference in the results on Friday and also in using the words during our daily writing.
This week, the spelling list focuses on short a as the medial vowel.
1. at
2. hat
3. cat
4. cap
5. can
6. map
7. mad
8. tap
9. the
10. a
The spelling tests will not be given in the same order on Friday as the words are on the list that comes home.
