Hi, I'm Kelvin .H. I'm going to talk about Robotics. Kyle, Celeste, Matthew T and I started in the middle of October. We stopped at November 18. we had a presentation on November 18. Our teacher for Robotics was Mrs. Bean in robotics we talk about programing. So each of us got one little robot. We had to use the computer. We made the programs in the computer, we wanted the robot to do. We sent the program to the robot. Then we pressed the run button on the robot. Each session was on Tuesdays and on Fridays. I sure had fun in the class! She said that were going to do it again next year!
I am going to tell you about the food drive at Willowdale. So far we have a lot of cans and boxes of food. We are collecting lots of cans and boxes to give to needy families for Thanksgiving!

In Mrs. Sempek's class, if you brought in 6 cans or boxed foods you would get 6 raffle tickets to use for our raffle party. I sure hope Mrs.Sempek's class wins the school competition of having the most cans because she is my teacher and we will earn a pizza party! I brought in 10 food items and got 10 tickets. The class that wins gets to have a pizza party!!!! I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving dinner!!!

We also went hiking. Hiking was so exciting! We saw birds, red trees, and broken down trees. We also saw a woodpecker!
Last but not least, we got to pet a Bull snake! or some reason, we had to put some speshal handsand a tizer to pet it.It was new.The person that had it colden't have it enymore,so she donated it to the foest.Well, thats my blog.25 BIE!

The book that We are reading Gregor the Overlander at Teacher Read! by Sayeeda

monday, november 17, 2008 at 3:22:46 PM

The book that we are reading is Gregor the Overlander. The thing that is funny about it is that in 1 of the parts, Boots, Gregor's sister, says "I POOOOP"! The family members of Gregor is Mom, Dad, Boots, and himself. Once, Gregor's Dad SUDDENELY dissappeared. He was once teaching, and when the bell rang he went outside and dissappeared. That is sad because he doesn't have a Dad anymore. Well that's what we've read so far. Hoped you liked it. BYE!!!

Hi! We had Hy-vee Family Night on November 13th, 2008. It's where you go to Hy-vee to earn money for our school. For everything we buy in the restaurant, we get a percentage for our school.

There is a box there and you put the yellow slip in the box. On the yellow slip you put your name, teacher, and grade. On the annoucements the next afternoon, they count up the yellow slips and whatever class gets the most yellow slips get's an extra gym time.

And guess what, MY CLASS WON out of the whole fourth grade!!! Well that's Hy-vee night!!! Thanks for reading.

RED RIBBON WEEK
Monday - Wear Red
Tuesday -Wear favorite or crazy hat
Wednesday -Wear favorite team items
Thursday - Wear your shirt backwards
Friday - Wear your favorite socks

Red Ribbon Week was extraordinary! Posters and themes everyday. Everybody loved it. I think the most favorite one was Thursday - backwards shirt day. It was pretty crazy! When I was at home, it seemed like I was still at school because my mom kept on saying "your shirt's on backwards." It made me laugh! Everyday was awesome! I think Sock Day could have been better. Still HAPPY RED RIBBON WEEK!

Election Day by Mary K.

friday, november 7, 2008 at 10:30:17 AM

Well, Election Day is here and the fourth graders are going to vote! Mrs. Putler and family helped make an awesome booth for us to cast our vote in. All the 4th graders will get to vote in science class because that is where the booth is. They will either vote for Senator Obama or Senator McCain. Good luck to both! If 4th grade at Willowdale decided who our next President was, it would be John McCain. On November 4th, things are going to change. I hope you like our next President of the U.S.A.!

Our Field Trip by Josh W

thursday, november 6, 2008 at 3:16:15 PM

Our field trip to Fontenelle Forest was really fun, but not the bus ride. When we got there, we all ate lunch. Then we went inside and talked about a problem in the woods. After that we split into 2 groups. Two groups went hiking while the other 2 groups played a game called predator and prey. Finally, we all got to see a snake and pet it. Then we got on the bus and went back to school.

The Halloween party By Macy M.

wednesday, november 5, 2008 at 1:08:05 PM

The Halloween party for Mrs. Nowell's and Mrs. Sempek's class started out with the candy toss, pumpkin bowling and a craft made with mini hay bales and candy. There were many snacks to chose from: pizza rolls, mini hot dogs, and R.I.P headstone peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. For dessert, we had cup cakes and juice boxes. We all took a fun goody bag home. Thank-you to the parents who helped. It was a great success!

Halloween parade by Allie C.

monday, november 3, 2008 at 2:33:09 PM

Hello Willowdale Elementary parents, students, and teachers. I would like to tell you about our Willowdale Halloween parade. Every year on Halloween, everyone dresses up in their costumes. If you forget your costume the office will let you use one.
Here is what you do during the parade. First you walk around the school. You start in your classroom. Then walk to the lobby. After you do that, then you go outside. You usually go inside then outside then inside and outside then straight to your classroom. Now you can not just walk around without an audience. So your parents and all your teachers stand outside and watch you. Some are inside, but others prefer standing outside. I think everyone had a great costume! This year I was John McCain for President. What were you?? Thanks for listening. Allie C.

Are you in Student Council? I am in Student Council and it is a lot of fun! In Student Council you get to participate in special activities. In order to participate in Student Council you need to turn in a permission slip in at the beginning of the year. The members in Student Council get to vote for a president, vice president, secretary, and two coat of arms ( which help out the rest of the staff) among kids in Student Council. We meet on Wednesdays every other week. Mrs. Gibbons and Mrs. Sempek are our teachers who run Student Council. I hope you join Student Council next year!!!

Only and I mean only Environmental Club can do this. At lunch time, we recycle items on our tray. We put the items in our Environmental Club Recycle Bin. Here are the things that you can recycle: milk cartons, napkins, plastic spoons and your tray if you have a stryofoam tray. The school who has the most bags of recycled items will earn an ice cream party!

Jump Rope for Heart by Muneer R.

monday, october 27, 2008 at 3:51:48 PM

Hello students of Willowdale! I want to tell you about Jump Rope for Heart. We went outside and did jump roping for 30 minutes with the Kindergarteners and with the 4th graders. We did double dutch. We even danced to the music. My favorite song was the Cha-Cha Slide. My favorite part was when we did double dutch.
Do you want to know about Gaggle? If you do, then you will want to read this blog.
Gaggle is a safe email for Millard Public Schools. Teachers and parents recommend Gaggle for students in Millard. There is a filter system that recognizes if you use an inappropriate word. If you get caught using an inapporpriate word, you would earn a strike. When you earn three strikes, then YOU'RE OUT! It's Mrs. Greenwald's decision on how long you go without Gaggle. It could be a week, a month, or it could until you are in 5th grade. It is her choice.
