This week's focus is the short "u" sound. The A words are: us, bus, bug, mug, must, with, then she, use. The B words include: lucky, stuck, thud, buddy, stuff, ladybug, yuck, thumb, eat, find.

Don't forget Spirit Week! Crazy sock day is on Monday. Mismatch day is on Tuesday. Wednesday is the 70's era. Thursday is hillbilly day. Friday is nerd day!

Your child has lined paper in the Friday folders to write about their favorite place, examples could be a favorite restaurant, room in the house, vacation, etc. They need to include a "juicy word" and at least two "feeling words". The assignment is due on Monday.

Until next time . . .

The first graders are passing their spelling tests! It is important that they learn to use the spelling words in every day writing opposed to only learning the words to pass the Friday test. Continue to review or drill the past spelling lists. Challenge your child to spell difficult words as they love to say hard words.

This week's focus covers the "th" digraph. The A words are: then, them, this, that, path, with, men, set, was, said. The B words are: they, these, those, thing, both, math, teeth, are, came, come

Just for fun, why don't you ask your child to drill your spelling ability!

Until next time . . .

This week's emphasis is the short e sound. The A spelling list consists of: hen, pen, men, end, send, set, all, call, very, that. The B spelling words are: peck, bedroom, blend, rest, then, when, left, fall, came, day.

When your child experiences a fun activity, ask them to to retell about the experience and then write a few sentences including some "juicy words". You may have to help them out with modeling the first time as an example. Don't forget to add capitals to begin the sentences and punctuation.

Until next time . . .
