Today Mr. Vincent's class had all of the usual, and interesting topics. This morning the students advanced right into the classroom, and sat down as quiet as field mice. After the field mice were ordered to, we skimmed through our book order pamphlets and found books we would like to buy.

Afterwards in Math we partnered up and found out how long our body measurements were. It is a mystery as to who has the longest arm span. Directly after that we aggressively played “First to 21,” in which I lost most of the rounds. Next in Math we worked on our Math Boxes not many of us finished them.

After Math we had P.E. In gym we ran around the gymnasium for 3 minutes, I guess the Substitute P.E. teacher thought we all had eaten too much over the winter break. Following the running we played Pirate's Treasure, which is a ton of fun. There are four teams, and each team has bean bags of every color except for their own. The main objective of the game is to get three bean bags of your team’s color.

Next we had WART, (writing and reading time.) Today for WART we were reading our IRB's (independent reading books) for 30 minutes. In addition to our IRB's we also read the story of Paul Bunyan's family. Most people enjoyed this story mainly because it had some comedy.

Finally it was lunchtime! Almost everybody had hot lunch today because it was hot dogs for lunch. Several people got doubles because they enjoy the hot dogs so much! Thank you Lunch Ladies.

The weather was so cold today that all recesses were held indoors, which ended up being a good thing for our class because we needed the extra time to finish Math Boxes. Most of the class played board games during the recess time as well.

Next came our spelling pre-test. The test was over the suffix -al. The test will be next Tuesday.

After spelling we dove into Social Studies. We made study sheets that will be about Revolutionary War. Mr. Vincent used PowerPoint and taught us about some of the things King George did to irritate the American colonists.

Finally it was time for Tribal Council. This is a point earning for our class game of Survivor: Fifth Grade. There are several tribes. I am in the Hausa Tribe. The winning tribe gets 30 tickets for each person. Our tribe is currently ahead in points.

At the end of the day its time again for teacher read. We are still reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Now instead of the teacher actually reading from the book, Mr. Vincent puts a CD into his laptop and it does the reading. "I really like Hagrid's voice in it!" said Zach. Today Hagrid led everyone into the Forbidden Forest to find the "invisible bat-like horses" that only can be seen by those who have witnessed death.

The end of the day again, and it seems like not very many people had homework today. You can see that our day was full so we must have used our time well. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
