Good day mate. Today is Enrichment Day and fourth and fifth graders are learning about Australia.

At one of the stations,we had to dance. There are supposed to be nine people in a group and the ninth person is the Drongo. First, couple number one waltzes around the Drongo twice. Next, couple two does the same thing and so on. Second, everyone circles around the Drongo left then right. Third, the girls circle the Drongo left then right. Then the boys do the same. When the music stops, everyone, including the Drongo, finds a new partner.

We also went to a station where we talked about the last 1% of the rainforest in Australia. There are lots of different landforms in Australia. Some are the desert, rainforest, and flat land. They get their food from a lot of things and places. A few are crocodile eggs, other animals, crops, and the sea.

Next there was a station about story telling. In the story of Cinderella, her sisters rode a double seated bike to the ball and Cinderella rode in a limousine. In Little Red Riding Hood, the wolf was a Dingo and Little Red brought soup to grandma instead of cookies.

Right next door we learned about Australian animals. We matched the definitions to the correct photo.

We also went to a vocabulary station where we learned about Australian words and phrases.

At the next station, we learned about Australia's government and money. We looked at the different bills and coins from Australia. In Australia, they have a Prime Minister instead of a president. If you are over 18 and you don't go and vote, you will be find between $150 and $200. They have a Bicameral Government. Queen Elizabeth II is still the queen of Australia.

One of our favorite stations was the food station. In Australia, they eat a lot of lamb and seafood. You will rarely find freezers in their homes. In Australia, you'll find some of the same fast food restaurants that we have. We made Lamington, which is cake with chocolate frosting. You can put coconut on top, if you want. YUM!!

After we went to all the stations, we came back to our room for WART ( writing and reading time). We worked on a dialogue and quotations worksheet. Then we had silent reading.

For lunch, we had turkey sandwiches.

After lunch, we went to the gym for an "all school" assembly. At the assembly, some people performed the Drongo and the orchestra played some music.

At the end of the day Mr. Vincent asked everyone what their favorite part was. We all had different answers but agreed it was a fun day.
