Everyone scrambled into the classroom, checked in, and read the board. We were told to get ready to turn in Study Link 7.8 and to practice a program on our handhelds called Be Smart. We didn't, however, have time to turn in our Study Link so we will turn it in tomorrow. The reason we ran out of time was that we had to take a test called Orleans-Hanna Math Placement Test. It will show us what math class we should be in for middle school next year. "I thought that it was sort of hard," said Helen.
Next, it was time for gymsic. We watched a movie about rhythm. As we came back into the room, Mr.Vincent told us we were going to change our seating arrangement. After we were settled, Mr.Vincent showed us an application on our handhelds called Spell It that was made especially for our class. Mr. Vincent beamed us a list of priority words to practice.
Moving on, we had a spelling pre-test. The rule for our spelling words was adjectives and nouns ending in -y, -ty, and -ity. Next was writing and reading time. In writing and reading we started book groups and the book I am reading is called The Westing Game. Other book groups are reading Castle in the Attic, Dogs Don't Tell Jokes, and Pinky Pye.
In art, we made stained glass out of construction paper, paint, and a piece of overhead plastic. I thought it was hard and fun at the same time! We went to lunch and recess next and the A lunch was hot dog and the B lunch was mac and cheese. Lunch was delicious and recess was awesome. The weather was so nice out hardly anyone needed their coats.
As we came back into the classroom Mr. Vincent started teacher read. The end of the day had almost arrived! When it finally did, we all rushed out the door with excitement and laughter.
