TGIF-Thank goodness it's Friday! Today is full of our usual studies, but as you will see we had something new in the classroom, too bad the rats are gone!
This morning when we got to class we were all introduced to Tucker, no, not a new student. Tucker is Mr. Vincent's cat. Tucker even brought his own bathroom and bed to school. I wish we could do that! I hope Tucker liked being at school as much as the whole class enjoyed having with us today.
After we got settled down, it was time for Math. First we had to solve 20 addition and subtraction of positive and negative numbers. The next thing was to go through our Unit 7 review sheets. The test is next Tuesday. I know I'll be studying all weekend.
Next we went to Music. Ms. Noble was there and she had a special guest for us as well. Today Mr. Ritchie was there. He is the husband of Mrs. Ritchie, who teaches Orchestra here at Willowdale and at Russell and West High. Mr. Ritchie plays the bass in an Orchestra. He is in the second seat. He brought some music from movies and traditional music also. He played the bass for us. My favorite song was about a mutant reptilian bird. Thank you Mr. Ritchie.
After Music it was time to go back to the classroom and have WART, (writing and reading time). Today for WART we were reading our assigned books. Some of the titles are, The Westing Game, Pinky Pye, and Castle in the Attic.
All of this work made us hungry, so finally it was time for lunch. Today the choice was pork fried sandwich or turkey. "I'm really looking forward to the turkey!" said Mr. Vincent. We were anxious to get outside for recess today. The weather was nice instead of the sleet and snow we were supposed to get.
Following lunchtime is Science. Hey, who turned out the lights? We experimented with colored flashlights. We have a program on our handhelds called NineColours. It is made by a person in England. With it we experimented on which colors made one another. We learned white light is made from blue, green, and red light.
Next came Spelling. Everyone worked on a worksheet. We were given clues on the word that we had to write down beside the clue.
Finally the end of the day came. Everyone put up their chairs while Mr. Vincent and a student had a challenge to see who could balance a ruler on their finger the longest.
Mr. Vincent won!So, our day was complete we were all ready for the weekend, I wonder if Tucker was as ready to rest as we were?
