All of the students in Mr. Vincent's class came in from the chilly weather ready for a day of learning. The morning message told us to have our spelling work sheets, and our Unit 7 review ready. The board also told us to work on our flip books. Flip books make funny sentences. We write nouns, verbs, and adverbs on sheets of paper and read them in a certain way and sometimes they are really funny.
In math we checked our Unit 7 review. After that on our marker boards, we practiced adding and subtracting negative numbers. Then using one of our Palm programs (Be Smart), we had a contest to practice adding and subtracting negative numbers. The student that got 50 out of 50 correct first, won 8 tickets. After that exciting contest, we did Study Link 7.10. It didn't take very long to do.
Then in music we started a new game called Survivor. In Survivor, you and your team mates try to earn points. In the spring, if your team has the most points, your team wins! After we drew names for our teams, each team had to think of a team name. My team's name is the Rolling Notes.
In WART, we read in our book group books. My book's name is Pinky Pye. It is about a very smart cat that can type! Then we shared a sentence in our Flip Books. Some of them were really funny! Then Mr. Vincent taught us another part of speech called prepositions. Then we played “CrossTalk” on our palms using prepositional phrases. Then Mr. Vincent told us to write down 26 prepositional phrases for an assignment. After a busy morning, it was time for lunch. Lots of people liked the chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers.
After lunch, we glued on a clear over head sheet to the back of our stained glass art work. We also worked on a spelling work sheet called Proofread It. I said to myself, "It was like art and spelling combined."
In science, we poked two holes in our color wheels and put a rubber band through the holes. Then we spun the color wheel around really fast, and the colors on the wheel turned white. Then we got out our science books and read pages 52 - 59, about colors and light. We also did a Lesson 3 worksheet about the pages we read.
Finally, at the end of the day, Mr. Vincent got to read Harry Potter and The Order of the Phonex. He read the part when Harry thought Voldemort was possessing him.
After a fun filled day, it was time to go home.
