The bell rang and the students eagerly entered Mr. Vincent's classroom, not only because it's Friday but also we knew we got to do something exciting in science.

For math we hustled through our lesson practicing adding and subtracting fractions. After practicing that, we had to complete page 255 in our math journal correctly to get Study Link 8.2.

Gym was a lot different today because we were doing gymnastics. We had to do several different types of stretches. Then we ended gym class by doing somersaults and cartwheels. Some of the girls even started doing one-handed cartwheels.

Next we had WART (writing and reading time). We met in our book groups and read orally together. After book groups, we added 26 adjectives, verbs, adverbs, nouns, and prepositional phrases into a Palm application called Silly Sentences. In Silly Sentences you enter a list of nouns, adverbs, adjectives, prepositional phrases, and verbs. Then the handheld randomly puts the list into sentences that are sometimes funny.

In spelling we had to do a worksheet on the prefix ex. While we worked on the spelling worksheet, people took turns painting their stained glass windows.

For lunch we had popcorn chicken, ice cream, corn, and a tea roll that our second grade taste buddies suggested. Thanks second grade for the fantastic lunch!

Finally it's time for science! Today we are dissecting a cow's eye. A dissection is where you cut something open to examine it. Taylor B. and Brian said they didn't want to do the dissection but Mr. Vincent convinced them by saying, "You will miss out on a lot of fun." We had to find and take out the cornea, iris, lens, vitreous humor, retina, and optic nerve. If we had time, we could also turn it inside out.

That concludes another day in Mr. Vincent's classroom.
