Children came in from outside knowing that soon they would be going to the S.A.C. Museum. As some hung their backpacks on their hooks, others were walking to Mr. Vincent's room. Students read the black-board after they had checked-in. After that, it was time for math. In math we did some practice on our marker-boards. We were studying fractions, decimals, and percents. Mr. Vincent gave us a percent and we had to find out the decimal and the fraction in simplest form. Then we did a page in our math journal. It was called "Finding a Percent of a Number.”
Then it was time to go to the S.A.C. When we first got there, we saw the SR-71 Blackbird. Some kids were in awe, while other kids didn't care much. But after that we did all sorts of things! We watched a movie about the ISS (International Space Station) and working on it. Did you know that astronauts practice work in a huge pool before they go up to space? We also did stuff like go on a motion simulator, look at all the objects that astronauts would normally see, make a ping-pong ball and some magnets float. We also did these activities like make a space station out plastic pipes, and make a ping-pong ball go to many places using a plastic hose blowing air. Another thing that we did was play all sorts of games that you really have to think about. One of the games was like a game on our Palm handhelds. I wasn't paying attention and I lost and said, "What the?"
Once we got back from the S.A.C. we watched Liberty's Kids. While watching, Mr. Vincent handed out the gifts that some of the student bought. Some kids got freeze-dried ice-cream, dog-tags, and T-shirts. Mr. Vincent left a little early to catch a plane to Michigan. But the children kept order. Before you knew it, it was to go home for Spring Break!
