At the dawn of class, everyone slumped in like exhausted apes and we still have a full day ahead of us.
Up on the board Mr. Vincent had written down for us to clean and organize our desks. By the time we were finished the trash cans were overflowing.Following this activity came math. We reviewed finding areas of shapes in our Math book and learned a new strategy to find them. Most of us thought it was kind of easy. When we were finished with the strategies, we started working on Math Boxes (M.B.) 9.6.
Next we went to Gym. First we sprinted seven laps around the gym. We all finished in good time. After we finished running we played a game where you try to take as many socks from as many people as you can. No they weren't on our feet! They were in our back pockets!
When we came back to the room we had got into four groups, two of those groups had to read IRB's (Independent Reading Books). Another group was reading a story from our Literacy Place Book and the last group read Spies of the Revolution.
Surprise! Surprise! On Monday we are going to get a new student in our class. His name is Andrew and some people from our class already know him from their neighborhood. When he comes we will have a Welcome poster ready for him. We want him to have a good time with us for the remainder of the year.
Finally, it was lunchtime. For lunch today we had the choice between Turkey Sandwich or Grilled Cheese. Mr. Vincent said, "I'm going to have the Turkey!" After lunch we had inside recess because of the rain.
After recess there was going to be an Orchestra Concert. We had to wait a little while for it to start. Some of us were drawing, others were reading. I was reading my IRB. "I really enjoy reading my book!", said Zach. Finally it was time for the concert. There was Swing Choir, orchestra and a band from Russell Middle School. Personally, I enjoyed the concert, especially the band. Thank you 8th Graders!
Next came Spelling. We went through a worksheet where we had to put the related words in their correct spot. Most of finished before the day was done.
After Spelling we had Social Studies. We were filling in our Unit 10 Study Guides for our next test. So far we have filled in two pages, only two to go! Our next test is about how the early citizens of America made their new government.
At the end of the day, if we cleaned the classroom of all scraps of paper off the floor we would be able to see a comical clip of the Hip Hop Easter Bunny. Luckily we got to see the funny film. When the clip was over Mr. Vincent put a disc in his laptop computer which read Harry Potter ad the Order of the Phoenix. After the chapter of the book was read, we packed up and headed to our Easter weekend.
