"Good morning" Mr. Vincent exclaimed as everyone walked in the door. We had to turn in our blue permission sheet if we wanted to do the after school class Thursday with Mr. Vincent. This class is with Mr. Vincent's University of Nebraska, Omaha (UNO) handheld class. The 5th grade students get to help the UNO students with handhelds.

There was also a new student today. His name is Andrew. We spent a couple of minutes telling him one word that described each of us. A lot of people's word was "nice.” Andrew's word was "sporty.” When they got to me, Mr. Vincent told him my word was "Twinkletoes". The people at Andrew's table helped him with how things work at Willowdale. It was not fair that he did not have a lot of work to do, but that will change. We are very glad to have Andrew in our class.

For math we graded Math Boxes 9.6 and surprise, surprise we had our grade book update on Math Boxes. This is where we have to write our score out of every Math Box onto a piece of paper and turn it into Mr. Vincent. Then he records it in the grade book and updates the Planet 5th website.

After math we went to music and watched the last part of our melody movie. We had to answer two questions about the movie in our small groups.
When we came back we got into our groups for “Spies of the American Revolution" and the other people read their Independent Reading Books (IRB).

Next some people, including Mr. Vincent, presented their artist PowerPoint slide shows, Taylor B., Erica, and Emily showed theirs on Georgia O'Keefe, Allison and Andrea showed theirs on Claude Monet. Finally Sam and Helen presented theirs on Wassily Kandinsky. My favorite painting was the "Red Church" by Wassily Kadinsky.

After we had some lunch we did our spelling worksheet of the day, also known as Take a Closer Look. Then we went to our buddies class and decorated Easter eggs. It was very cool because we put stickers on the eggs before we put them in the dye and afterwards when we peeled them off it left the shape of the sticker on the egg.

We took another Social Studies challenge and wrote down some new definitions in our yellow study guide.

We listened to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Then we had to go home to wait to go to the skating party.
