Did you know that it was Mickey Mouse's birthday today? As the students moseyed into the room they got their things ready for the day to begin and realized that Mr. Vincent was missing. We had a substitute named Mrs. Shaw.
In math today we went around the room asking 24 students what their favorite after school snack was. The choices were cookies, granola bar, candy bar, fruit, and other. Cookies had 1 vote, granolia bar had 4 votes, candy bar had 1 vote, fruit also had 1 vote, and the favorite was other with 15 votes. So we used that data to make a bar graph. We also did Math Box 5.9.
Next in P.E we got to use pedometers (step counters) to keep track of how many steps we took. At the end of gym we opened them up to see if we had reached the goal of 2,000 steps in 30 minutes. That's a lot of steps to take, so some of us reached the goal and some didn't.
In WART today we met with our book groups. Then Mrs. Anderson, the librarian, came and showed us 28 books about Historical Fiction and Non-Fiction genres.
Everyone was hungry by the time lunch time rolled around. For lunch we had fried chicken patty on a bun, French fries, peaches, and since it was Mickey's birthday we got three flavors of ice cream with chocolate, caramel, and marsmallow characters inside.
After lunch, we had spelling and the class did a worksheet called "Catalog Shoppers."
Then we had science. In science we read in our science books about energy transfer for a little bit. Next Mrs. Shaw, our sub, asked us some questions we had to answer. After that she gave us a work sheet right before the bell rang. I guess everyone will have homework this weekend.
Before we left for the weekend we packed up our mail, wrote the assignments in our planner, and put up our chairs. After a long week, it was finally the weekend!
