This morning the kids scurried into the classroom. Mr. Vincent told us to write in our notebook about Friday’s day with a substitute teacher - how it went and how the class did. Then Mr. Vincent had a 20 minute lecture.
Next Mr. Vincent chatted about a yellow sheet for math. It had questions that would be on our test. There were some hard questions. For math we did problems on our slate, like mixed numbers and equivalent fractions. Then we did the yellow sheet. It had mixed numbers and fractions on it.
Next we went to Music. In music we sang a song in our book's.
Then we had book groups. The Twits group finished their book. Mr. Vincent helped us make a Palm database category for vocabulary so we could write two words that we did not know from today’s reading.
Afterwards we jotted down ideas about improving our effort like "neatly done," "notes," and "done on time." Then we wrote a paper about different levels of effort. Next we made a mosaic of Grant Wood’s American Gothic. It looked very stange, but we tried our best.
Then we had a “Capitalization 2” worksheet and it was time for lunch. For lunch we had mini-corndogs, corn, pears, and cookies. After lunch the kids scampered outside for recess. But some people had to stay inside.
Then for spelling we had proofreading practice. It is where we find all the misspelled words.
Next we did a science demonstration. There was a cylinder with a balloon on it. Plus we taped a spoon on the top. First we put the cup in warm water and the balloon bulged up. In the cold water the balloon caved inward. Next we drew a picture of how we think a steam engine would work. Then we got science books so we read pages 54-57. After that we wrote notes called “Lesson 4 - Burning It Up.”
Finally it was time to close things up with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Harry and Dobby were talking. Then Harry heard a voice that sounded like Hermonie. Then the bell rang and the kids strolled out of the class.
