What would you do if you had to raise a dragon? This book is called Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher. The author of this book is Bruce Coville and is also the author of Aliens Ate My Homework. In this book you will find out what Jeremy has to do to keep a dragon.
This book is about a boy that bought a dragon egg for a quarter and had to raise it. Jeremy also had to find a way to keep the dragon a secret. Then he finds out only he and Mary Lou Hutton could see it. About half of the way through the book Jeremy was trying to look for a name for his dragon and found the name Tiamat. Once Tiamat was too big to stay in his room he took her to a stable and then Jeremy started riding her through the sky at night when his parents where asleep. Will Jeremy raise his dragon right?
I liked the part when Tiamat saved Fat Pete (a cat of Jeremy's) from Freddy the Frog Killer. My least favorite part is when Mary Lou Hutton tried to kiss Jeremy. One of my favorite parts is when Tiamat blew fire at Mr. Kravitz's foot. Mr. Kravitz jumped around like a monkey blowing on his foot.
This book's theme is, nothing you love is really lost. In the book Miss Priest whispered to Jeremy, "Nothing you love is really lost.” The phrase is even the name of a chapter. Sorry, but I can't give away the ending so why don't you read it yourself.
