Terror at the Zoo

Imagine you where trapped in a zoo with a killer! Peg Kehret, an author, wrote a very interesting book. It is called Terror at the Zoo. This book was very, very exciting. What's bad about the book is in the beginning it is kind of boring but towards the end it is very hard to stop reading and reading.
The book was about two children, Cory and Ellen. The beginning of the book is when Ellen had a birthday party and she got nothing that she liked until her grandma and grandpa gave her and her brother Cory a over-the-night sleep party at the zoo. Ellen’s favorite place to go is the zoo. Then her parents went out of town and her grandma and grandpa had to take care of them. The day of the sleep over, through a series of miscommunications between grandparents and parents, each thinking the other were with the kids, Ellen and Cory were at the zoo by themselves.
I liked the part when Ellen tells the elephant, Hugo, she could tell him what to do because Ellen and Cory washed Hugo and Hugo was not afraid of them. Ellen told Hugo with her eyes that they needed help because they where in danger. Then Hugo, the biggest elephant out of the elephant herd, protected Ellen and Cory be shielding them with his tusks and pinning Tony the killer against the fence until the police arrived to arrest Tony.
Also, one of my other favorite parts in the book is when Tony is finally caught and Ellen and Cory's mom and dad arrive. Then Cory still wants to spend the rest of the nighttime sleeping in the zoo with their mom and dad.I think the theme is do not go anywhere without our parents approval because you might just be kidnapped or there are many other things that might happen to you. Also that if you are in a bad situation, you should never give up until it is through. I liked this book because it really shows love and heart. Also, it shows how other siblings can help other siblings when they are in trouble. So it is a very good book to read. Maybe you might want to read other books that Peg Kehret wrote. I know I will but since, Terror at the Zoo is such a good book, I might just read it again. And I think you should read it too.
