Planet 5th Book Review

The Tuned In series of books by Julia DeVillers was full of adventures and mysteries. There are four books in this series so far- Fast Friends, Star Struck, True Teamwork, and Music Mania. These stories will introduce you to characters and take you to places that you could only imagine!

The books are about a girl named Maddy. She tried out for, but didn’t make, the cheerleading squad for her school, when all of her friends did. Although she was extremely bummed, things changed when she went shopping with her mom. She asked her mom if she could go to the bathroom and saw three other girls that were complete strangers to her. When they found out that the bathroom door was jammed and they couldn’t get out, they became the best of friends. Claire, Isabel, and Kacey, (the girls that Maddy met in the bathroom) joined a club at the mall and went to Hollywood, fashion shows, concerts, and many more exciting places.

What I liked most about these books was all the cool adventures the four new friends had! I also liked the way Ms. DeVillers wrote the books from Maddy’s point of view. Sometimes she just told the story and other times the book was Maddy’s diary. Also, the author’s word choice was very descriptive. I couldn’t put the books down after I started them.

I think that the theme or message of these books is to never give up. Maddy, the main character in all four of the books, makes lots of mistakes but she never gives up because she believes in herself. I would definitely recommend these books to any girls who want to read about friendship and exciting places. That is why I chose these books for my book review.
