Planet 5th Book Review

The Christmas Rat is by Avi, and he is a really good author. You should read his books. The Christmas Rat is about a kid name Eric. He goes on a Christmas vacation and he said it would be a bummer because there was a big blizzard so he could not go outside.

The book is about a kid named Eric. He is a nice kid but he can get mad pretty quickly. His family goes on a trip downtown about two hours away. Because his mom and dad work downtown, they stay in an apartment for Christmas. A guy comes for Christmas because it is their mom and dads friend and they see a rat. So they go down the stairs and look for it and they find but runs, so they look for again and again. Then they go to sleep. They wake up the next morning and Eric finds the rat and does not tell their mom and dad’s friend because is going to kill it. So he runs after it and gets it in to a corner and grabs it and he is not afraid of it.

I like the book because it is about Christmas and I like Avi’s books a lot. I like because it is about the cold white snow and talks about a bad blizzard in the city. I like a lot from the word choice like “paralyzed blizzard in the city,” and “exterminator” and “crossbow.” I like it because of the author, too. He is the best author. That’s what I think.

The theme that they wrote is a lot of people go on vacations for Christmas. They made the book because rats go to sleep in the winter. Avi did this maybe he wanted to get the Newberry award or wants people to read this so he can be a better author. He could have of done this because he really had this happen to him or his mom or dad.
