Venus Among the Fishes
by Scott O'Dell

The book Venus Among the Fishes by Elizabeth Hall and Scott O'Dell is a great book if you like dolphins. I think that this would be a good book for people who have enjoyed reading Scott O'Dell's books in the past. I think that it was a pretty good book myself.

The book was about a dolphin named Coral whose pod is endangered when their home in Glacier Strait gets invaded by killer whales. Corals father sends her and her brother Snapper to find her other brother Silver. While searching for Silver, Coral gets caught in a net and put in a tank where believe it or not, she finds Silver. He lives in Paradise Cove, which is similar to Sea World and now so does Coral. She was happy for the longest time but then grows unhappy after a while so she runs away, and you'll have to read the rest of the book.

First I liked the book because one of my favorite authors helped write it. It also had a great way of explaining how some people are mean to dolphins and some are nice. I think reading this book was a great way to learn about doing something that you know might be risky. I also liked learning about how they used their far sensors to find things good or bad. Reading this book has made me want to go out there and swim with the dolphins.

In this book I think that the theme was, “never give up.” I think that because when it was most unlikely that Coral and Snapper would find Silver they never gave up. Then when they had to help Sea Fan escape from the net they never gave up. Also when she had to keep Soooh from drowning she never gave up then either. In conclusion, I give this book two thumbs up!
