Edwina Victorious is by Susan Bonners. I think you will like this book. That is why I think all fifth graders should read this book. I really liked this book and you'll find out why after you read my book review.
This tells about a girl named Edwina Osgood, but people call her Eddy. While cleaning out the attic of her great aunt whose name is also Edwina Osgood, she found a box of letters and a new typewriter. The letters were full of good deeds her great aunt did. Edwina the first wrote letters to the mayor and other important people to fix up the town. Now Eddy wants to follow in her great aunt's footsteps, and help the city. She uses her own name, but uses her great aunt's signature.
I like how this book shows what other characters are doing, like how it shows the mayor sitting in his office and thinking. It didn't only talk about Eddy. And I like how it was descriptive, especially about the garden and the rosebushes. I really had a clear picture in head when it described the garden. I really like realistic fiction books that way you can really have a clear picture because it talks about things you already know about, and this story could really happen.
I think the lesson the book is trying to teach is never use someone else's signature. At the end you will get into a lot of trouble, and you never know if the name of the person you used will forgive you or not. If you started already though, stop immediately. Even if you're helping everyone being honest is more important, because even if your changing people's lives they still might not forgive you if you lie to them. It's a hard decision, but if you make the right decision, your life might just be a little easier, don't lie.
