The author of this book is Louis Sachar. The book is named Holes. It is about a boy who got sent to Camp Greenlake because of his great, great grandfather stole a pig from a one legged gypsy. The boy, Stanley, has to dig holes because of it. Stanley isn't too happy about it.
The book is about Stanley Yalnuts. He got sent to Camp Greenlake because of his grandfather. H has to dig holes because of his cruelty. His new nickname is Caveman because he needed a nickname. His only hope to get out is his father’s project. He is working on a way to recycle old sneakers because whoever does will be very rich.
The thing I like about this book is it shows great responsibility. It gives you ideas on how to build character. I also like it because it shows courage. Another thing is it shows toughness.
Something you can learn from this book are the consequences of stealing and how that act can effect a friend or ancestor. You can also learn that running away isn't always smart. Also, you can learn that some punishments can't be forgiven or taken lightly. So if you want to learn good behavior and see what would happen if you got sent to boot camp, Holes is the book for you.
