Planet 5th Book Review

The Birthday Room is a great book!!! The author is Kevin Henkes. The book is about a boy named Ben that goes to visit his uncle.

First, Ben gets a new room from his parents for his birthday but he hates it. Then Ben got a letter from his uncle to come visit him. When Ben got there he met a girl named Lynnie. They played everyday together. They went to a special tree, that tree was the tree that Lynnie's grandma and grandpa first kissed under. Ben also met Ian (Ben's uncle) wife Nina. She was going to have a baby but the baby got sick in Nina's stomach and the baby might die, but at the very end Ben gets a new cousin.

The thing I like about the book is that Ben never knew who his uncle was until he got there. Also I like how when at the end Ben and Lynnie build a house together they have to draw out pictures of what it is going to look like. Then they have to measure the sides of the house. I also like how the author has good word choice.

I think the message is that you should always know who your relatives are. Someday you are going to meet up with them sooner or later. The you will have to get to know them find out like if they have any pets, or if they get good grades in school, or things like that. So I think you should always have some kind of communication with your family members.
