This book, How To Eat Fried Worms, was written by Thomas Rockwell. The story has four main characters. They are Billy, Alan, Tom ,and Joe. The friends challenge and bet that Billy won't eat 15 worms in 15 days.
The prize Billy would win if he won would be $50.00. The friends divided in to two teams, Alan ,and Joe versus Tom ,and Billy. When they first started trying to eat the worms, it was very difficult. Billy had a hard time eating the worms because they tasted so bad. Billy and Tom came up with ways to disguise the taste of the worms. Some of the ways they did that were using ketchup, mustard, and horseradish. Tom told Billy to think fish not worm and it will taste more like a fish not a worm. Meanwhile, Alan and Joe were trying to trick Billy from eating the worms. One of the ways was they took Billy to Shea Stadium. Alan and Joe thought the game would distract Billy from eating the worms. The trick did not work and Billy still ate the worms. In the end, Billy won and used the money to buy the motorbike, and he shared it with all of the friends.
I liked this book because Billy never gave up on eating the worms. I liked the creative ways they tried to trick each other. I also liked this book because of all the adventures they went through. Last but not least, I liked all the funny and humorous parts.
I think the theme or message of book is to never give up. It also showed how you could win by using your imagination. In the end, everyone won because Billy shared his prize. I think we can all learn a valuable lesson from this story.
