The title of my book is The Landry News. The author of this great book is Andrew Clements. The Janitor's Boy is another book he has written that follows this one.
This book is about a girl named Cara. She is a new students at Denton Elementary. She is in Mr. Larson’s class and nobody likes Mr. Larson, not even the parents. He lets the kids learn on their own and he doesn't tell them what to do. One day Cara puts a piece of paper on the bulletin board. Everyone crowds around. Mr. Larson goes to see what the students are looking at. Since Cara made a newspaper at her other school she decided to make one at her new school. So one day Joey, another student, and Cara ask if they can do a project Mr. Larson says yes. After about a week or so, the first Landry Newspaper was made. It was a hit, everyone wanted to help make more issues. When Dr. Barnes, their principle, finds a newspaper and reads it he likes it but he thinks there is something wrong. He goes to find out who is in charge. When he finds out that Mr. Larson is in charge of the newspaper, he schedules a meeting with him. Dr. Barnes doesn't like some of the stories that Cara writes. So to keep Mr. Larson out of trouble, the students come up with a new paper outside of school. Read this great book and find out what happens.
What I liked about this book is when the Landry News comes out. I also like how the students work together to make more newspapers. I like the parts were Mr. Larson gets into trouble it makes you think about what is going to happen. The best part is when Cara and her friends make a new paper and stands up to Dr. Barnes.
The message of this book is to never give up on your dreams. Cara doesn't give up on her dream of making a better school through a newspaper. When they told her to stop making the Landry News, she makes a new paper called The Guardian. So don't give up on your dreams and always try your best. I think you shuold read this book because it is fun, exciting, and grabs your attention.
