Peg Kehret, the great author of The Secret Journey, is a terrific writer because this story is one of the best stories I have ever read. I have never read a better book. I would highly recommend this book to someone because it is so interesting.
This book is about a little girl named Emma who is 11 years old. Her mother is sick so her father is going to take her to England to a warmer climate. But Emma has to stay back with her dreadful Aunt and cousin. Instead of staying with them she decides to stowaway. So Emma dresses up as a boy and goes to the boat docks to find her parents boat. So she asked a man where the Wafarer is and he points to the Black Lighting because he thinks she is going to stowaway. If I were you I would read the rest of the book to find out what happens to Emma.
I like this book because I like the action in the book. I also like Emma because she is a headstrong girl. I even like what the author wrote about. Unlike some books, you don't really like what the story is about and it gets kind of boring.
The author's message is showing kids that listening to your parents is the best thing to do when you have a situation when something is wrong. I would really suggest this book to someone because you will really enjoy it. If you do read this book, you will find that it is a wonderful adventure.
