I read How To Eat Fried Worms, the authors name was Thomas Rockwell. How To Eat Fried Worms was a real mind thinker. I would recommend this book to anyone because I just loved it and I think you would to.
The book is about a boy named Billy and his friend Alan. Because of a bet, Billy has to eat fifteen worms in fifteen days. If Billy comes through eating all the worms he gets fifty dollars. Billy's best friend Alan says, "the bigger the juicier" so he finds the biggest worm he could find. At first Billy's problem is whether or not he can swallow them. Alan says he can put whatever he wants on them so he gets peanut butter and horseradish.
What I liked about the book was when Billy was in trainning camp. It was really funny when he was doing jumping jacks and push-ups. Another funny part was after he ate all the worms, that's all he wanted to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The best part of the book was when the doctor wrote a false letter to Billy . The letter said that earth worms are poisonous and that many people die from eating them.
What I think the author is trying to say is you have to stand up for yourself. For example, if someone calls you a chicken you shouldn't do something you don't want to do. I think the author is also saying you don't have to do things even if it is for money. Billy really wanted the bike and he got it, but it could have turned sour. Money may be a good motivator, but you shouldn't risk getting hurt.Reviewed by Tanner 9/02
