WhatDAREMeans to Me
by Chris B.

Have you ever been asked to smoke before? If I chose to smoke, I know what happens to me. Thanks to Deputy Rieder, I know the consequences of smoking. If you stick around, I'll tell you.

When Deputy Rieder came in, I thought I was going to learn about police again. We'll I was wrong. I learned about the chemicals that are in cigarettes. I learned that they put in glass, carbon monoxide, nicotine and thousands of more things. I don't want smoke glass. Do you?

I know the effects of smoking cigarettes. It can cause me to get lung cancer, yellow teeth, bad breath, and can cause me to die. It can even cause me to even get plastic surgery. If I do smoke my parents would ground me forever like some people do because they smoke. In fact, when I said I’d die, I meant I’d die. That brings up something. Did you know that 400,000 people die every year? If I do smoke I know I might die and I don't want to die. Do you?

I don't want to die because I know what's in cigarettes, what it could do to me, and how many die every year. If somebody asks me to smoke, I know what to say. Now my goal is not to smoke. Now I know why I shouldn’t smoke.
