WhatDAREMeans to Me
by Helen

I know, I know this might seem boring but, it's not, so don't rip me up. Anyway, when I started DARE it seemed kind of boring at the start, but Deputy Rieder talked about how to make friends, keep them, and how to know if someone is your friend or not.

Friendship was my favorite subject we talked about. I've learned a lot in DARE. Some of the things I learned include friendship. I'm going to talk about it.
First of all, how do I if some one is my friend or not? Well, let me talk here and I'll tell you. A good friend is someone who cares about me. Not only me but my feelings. They’re nice to me, help me when I need it, and respect me.

What is a good friend like? A good friend is like someone who isn't mean to me and will catch me when I fall. A good friend is also someone who shares with me and cares for me. Now you know what a good friend is like.

How do I know someone is not my friend? When someone is not my friend they're mean to me, might give me mean looks, doesn't care for me, and doesn't respect me or care for my feelings. Body language is also very important because if someone gives me a mean look it might mean they’re mad at me or something like that. Additionally, my real friends would never offer me drugs.

Well you see that wasn't so boring. Right? You might not notice it, but I just gave you some really important advice about choosing your friends wisely. I learned it all from DARE. All thanks to Deputy Rieder.
