WhatDAREMeans to Me
by Jordan

Has anyone ever asked you to chew tobacco? Hopefully not, because it can really hurt you and me. I learned a lot from DARE and Deputy Rieder. If someone ever does ask me to chew tobacco, here are some reasons to give them for not to chewing and smoking.

This is why I would say no. It is very harmful. There are so many chemicals in chewing tobacco and cigarettes. Over 400,000 people die each year from smoking and chewing. What would my friends think of me? Not to mention my parents would not be happy at all. My breath and teeth would smell and look horrible. It would ruin my lungs right away.

I asked Deputy Rieder how it was harmful. She told me there were a lot of ways it was harmful. There is still more, I won't be able to run as fast as I do now. I also would have a harder time breathing. I haven't told you about the chemicals either. There are 200 known poisons in cigarettes. It can also cause heart disease. I don't want to be like that.

Furthermore, I don't want to deal with the consequences. Some of the consequences there could be are going to jail, arrests, feeling like a bad person, and smelly breath. If I smoked I would have to deal with my parents. I don't know what they would do to me! All I know is I never want to deal with any of it.

Finally, DARE has taught me so much about tobacco. All of these reasons are why I will stay far, far away from tobacco! Never will I do it. You should know why now!DARE Essay Index
