What
Means
to Me

Did you know that Deputy Rieder came and taught us about avoiding drugs and smoking? Well she did and she taught us a lot, but my favorite lesson was the one on peer pressure. I'm going to tell you about three kinds of peer pressure: teasing, indirect, and friendly.
First, teasing peer pressure is where, let's say, someone asked me to smoke and I said no. So they would tease me or call me a chicken. It might hurt my feelings but I will still say no and so should you.
Next is indirect peer pressure. Indirect peer pressure is where they'll tell me a place where there will be drinking or smoking. An example is a person will invite me to a party or a place where there will be smoking or something else that might get me in trouble. I'll know to say no to indirect peer pressure also.
The third and final kind of peer pressure I'm going to tell you about is friendly peer pressure. Friendly peer pressure is where a friend asks me to smoke or drink. I would say no and walk away. So they would tell me I wouldn't be their friend anymore I would still say NO. I'd rather lose a friend then suffer the consequences of drug use.
Finally, those are three of the kinds of peer pressure that Deputy Rieder has taught me. She also taught me to always say NO to drugs! DARE has also made me feel good inside. I hope that DARE goes on for a long time.
