When everyone slowly stomped into the classroom with a frown on their faces, we were all wondering where Ms. Sanborn was. First, everybody showed Ms S. their tote trays. After she said our totes were clean, she gave us a math study guide. Next, was our spelling pretest. Everybody at least missed one word on the pretest. If we miss a word on our pretest, we have to write the words in our Spelling Booklets. Third was Gymsic. Everybody loves Gymsic. In Gymsic we danced radically to the music that was playing. Everybody loves the KONGA! Fourth, was math. We all got out our Math Journals and switched with somebody that sat in our area. Fifth, was art. Today we were painting a picture like Pablo Picasso's painting. We were painting when he was in his blue period. Next up, was lunch. Lunch A was chicken patties. Almost everybody in our class had A lunch. After lunch was News Bowl. The weekly News Bowl is a game that we play every Wednesday. News Bowl is a gamer where we choose a topic and a number. Then Ms. Sanborn asks you a question and you will have to answer it right or your wrong.
Everyone slumped into Ms. Sanborn's room drowsily. We started the day by checking if we got our assignment notebooks signed. Fortunately, I did. If you got it signed, you got two tickets. After awhile, we had math. We checked Math Journal 56 and 57. I hope everyone did an outstanding job! After checking math pages, we did estimation jars. We did six, and I won once. Yippee! If you won, you got six tickets. Shortly after that we studied on our dry erase boards. One subject down, seven to go. Subject number two was writing. In writing, we shared our four squares with our group on the overhead. We also shared our writing. We could have shared our free write or our imaginary friend writing piece. I thought Willie's was funny. Next, we had music. Some of us were confused, some weren't, because we had a sub. People in choir knew we were going to have a sub because we did not have choir. In music, we sang one of the class' favorite songs, "Fifty Nifty United States". We also sang "The Star Spangled Banner". Shortly after music we had spelling. In spelling, we had a test. Hope everyone did amazingly! Then we checked the spelling sheets we did the other day. That was the end of spelling and we moved on. In reading, we read Dear Mrs. Parks. It was written in letter form. It was a great story. Well, at least that is my opinion. Then we answered some questions about the book. "Growl!" That was the sound of everyone's stomachs during reading. Finally, we got to go to lunch. We had Cheesy Macaroni or two other main dishes. But not me. I got Arby's. Yummy! Our last subject of the day was science, like always. We talked about yesterday (the dissection of the onion and the chicken wing). We talked about if we liked it or not and what we learned. It kind of made people's stomachs turn upside down. That was the end of science. Finally it was the end of the day. Everybody was getting ready to leave. They were excited to leave after the super day.
Monday morning as the kids started drifting into the classroom we took out our writing journals and wrote about our weekends! After that was over it was time for math! We all traded books and began to check them. Once everyone was done checking we where assigned two more pages. Finally it was time for gym! Everyone was dreading it because today we ran the mile. You could tell most of us were confident! When we where all finished we were all exhausted! We went to the front of the school to practice escaping the busses if we had to. when that was over it was time for lunch! Everyone sat down by their friends and began to dig in! When science came it was sure fun! Today all we did in science was fun experiments. We finally got to dissect a chicken wing and an onion! Everyone seemed to enjoy it. Buy the time science was over we went straight to teacher read and then study hall. When the day came to an end everyone was sure ready to go home! We all packed up and went on our way. I think everyone in our class had a fantastic day!
Today everyone came rushing in like nobody’s business because it was the last day of the week. After the pledge we checked our math I got 100% and 90% on my Math Boxes and story problems. Then we wrote about what would it be like if we were principal. It had to be over half a page. After that we did a four square writing activity with a overhead transparency, and then we read it to the class. Right after that we did it again but in different groups. "Line up—It’s music time." said Ms. Sanborn. When we got back from music we had our reading test the story was Yang the Third and Her Impossible Family. Next, we went to the OLE to read our Time for Kids magazine, and we also had a worksheet with it. After a while we had lunch and recess. Really we have silent reading but we are working on electing Student Council representatives. Our representative runners are Dylan, Alex, Laura, Nicole, Jessica, and Devon. Student council went by fast and then we had social studies. We read then we copied what Ms. Sanborn had written on her favorite thing, the chart board. Ahh man, next it's teacher read, and we had to sit there for 15 minutes. Oh boy that was a good part after all. But next is study hall for 30 minutes. Finally the best part of the day was the end of school. Once the bell rang everyone said, "Wahoo! School’s out for the week. That is my roving reporter day.
The day started with rain and everyone’s echoes boomed through Willowdale’s hallways. Bling! Bling! Then the bell rang. We started the day with Super Students studying for the Math Card times test on their handheld computers. Everyone then rushed as Miss Sanborn counted down: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! We all got out our math books and we learned about rounding numbers. Then it was writing. We wrote a story about a imaginary friends. Then it was gym. We couldn’t run the mile because it was to wet. So we just did stations instead. Next it was time for lunch. We had a pretzel with lots of yellow cheese, a banana, and broccoli. We came back in from the hot playground, and it was time for science. We got to look at our new science books and then we wrote down our questions and wonders. Then were out of school and on our journeys home.
Today everyone trampled into the classroom very excited because it's Wednesday. We have art, News Bowl, and we get out of school at 2:00 p.m. Also, we lucked out because our morning assignment was to clean out our tote trays. After everyone was done cleaning their tote trays, Ms. Sanborn and Madison gave out tickets for having our assignment books signed by a parent and our tote trays being cleaned. After Ms. Shanborn was done giving out tickets to the people who deserved them, we took our spelling pretest and a buddy checked them. When our buddies were done cheekking them we made our spelling lists. When all of us were done we had reading. In reading we read a story called ''Yang The Third And Her Impossible Family'.” Most of us thought the story ''Yang The Third And Her Impossible Family'' was great others thought it was pointless. When we were done reading the story it was time to go to Gymsic. In Gymsic we walked around the gym listening to music and in different parts of the music it told us to stop walking and do a physical activity like jumping jacks or push-ups. For art we put rubber bands on our t-shirt that we brought for the Character Counts kick-off in one week. Math was next. In math we checked a friend’s Math Boxes page. Then we got blue sheets that we either finished in class or it was homework. When 15 minutes were up we went to lunch. Most children got hotdogs for lunch. When we got back from lunch we played the week’s New Bowl game. The day was very fun from having art, News Bowl, and getting off at 2:00!
Today everyone walked in with a frown on their faces. Ryan, Dylan, and I did Safety Patrol. We walked everyone across the street safely. In 6th Grade Math, we had a challenging Math test today. I hope everyone got 100%. Fifth Grade Math students graded each others’ Math Journals, describing chances and a page of Math Boxes. In wonderful writing we talked about closing sentences. We had to write some paragraphs. We had to close sentences about why kids shouldn't smoke and why summer is great. During magnificent Music Ms. Noble taught us musical notes. Most of us caught on pretty well. Ms. Noble put Sir Duke on. Everyone was dancing and having a blast. After Music we took our extremely difficult ELO tests. Today was our last day of testing. Amazing Art was a lot of fun. Everyone had great ideas. Our art piece was based on a Henry Matisse painting. It had to be Beasts of the ____. Reanna did Beasts of the Softball Field. Next, we all went to late lunch. The food was pretty good. We had chicken nuggets. Lots of people got seconds. Today it was inside recess because it poured an ocean outside. Devon and I didn't go to recess because we had band. We also missed all of silent reading. Reading time is the time to read from our green books. We all had to read Yang the Third and Her Impossible Family. It was quite interesting because it tells about Chinese culture. During teacher read Ms. Sanborn read Rescue Josh McGwire. This book is a definite page turner. Study Hall was like always. Lots of people got their homework done. Also lots of people had to give Ms. Sanborn some tickets for talking. RRRRIIIINNNNGGGGG! Everybody rushed out of the school with smiles on their faces.
As we all thundered in from the cool morning weather we were surprised to be greeted by a substitute teacher. Our substitute's name was Miss Edmonson. While some kids needed to be reminded to check in their lunch choice, other people were at their seats, doing their morning assignment. In math we a ton of work in our math journal and I'm not even finished yet! After math we had one of my favorite subjects, WRITING! Getting out the Writers’ Express books was a drag because one half of the class had to share with the other half of the class. Everyone was pushing and shoving to get their own book. I should have gotten double lunch today! Ms. Sanborn hadn't put up the new lunch calendar, so no one knew what was for lunch, so everybody got Choice A (except for those with cold lunch). I had pizza and salad. It was delicious! We all came in from recess with red-hot faces. Then we got out our green reading books to talk about a new story called “Yang the Third and Her Impossible Family.” In study hall almost 100 percent of the class worked on their “beast piece” for art. Other kids drew pictures or worked on their math journal. When we were done with study hall some college professors from Thialand came to our classroom. We had much fun talking with them until they left. After they left the bell rang and we got our planners signed by Miss Edmonson and left the school! I wonder if Ms. Sanborn will be doing the planner signing tomorrow?
As the students of Ms. Sanborn’s class rushed into the school, they were mostly talking about the carnival that was going to take place later that night. Some students had trouble settling down to study; others got to work right away. The day started like most other days with A.M. assignments, followed by Math. We had four math papers that had to be done. Next we worked on writing, which included our “response paper.” This is an assignment where you choose three discussion points for a book you have read. We also worked on spelling, which included finding our words on our spelling list in the dictionary and finding their meaning. The day also included art (our teacher’s favorite subject) and, of course, lunch! Social Studies ELO tests continued today. The test included questions about famous Americans, geography and simple machines. Ms. Sanborn read from the book Rescue Josh McGuire. To finish the day off, we had silent study hall and filled out our assignment notebooks. That evening, the carnival was all the rage! There were lots of games, which included the triple bungee game and the obstacle course. They also had many booths. My favorite was the dunk tank. Ms. Sanborn was one of the victims. She taunted the people who missed the target to dunk her. After missing the target, one student got playful and ran up and pressed the button to dunk her anyway. This was not just another ordinary school day. Overall, it was a magnificent day!
Everyone came into the classroom with nice clothes on for pictures today. Super Students were also talking about our ELO testing for science and social studies. I hope everyone is going to get a good grade! First off this morning, we had to do a sheet about big cats. Before we started math we got our estimation jars ready so people could start to estimate. In math we checked two pages that we had to do the day before. Beep! The office called and said we can go get our pictures taken. When we where done with the smiling and camera flashing, we did spelling. We had to write the definitions to all of our spelling words. After that we had gym and we had to play a game that you had to run past people and get to a football and run it back. If you get tagged you go to jail. When we got back we had to take the ELO test. We had to do 40 problems, but you could do it fast. However, if you didn't study, you wouldn't go very fast. When we got done we could do anything as long as it is at your seat. Most people read the Time For Kids magazine or their stories. I did both. When everyone was done we went to lunch. We had French toast or two other food choices. After lunch we had silent reading time. I am reading a good book called Caleb's Story. After that we had teacher reading time. Ms. Sanborn is reading Rescue Josh Mgquire, and we are at the best spot. When Ms. Sanborn was done reading we had study hall. Study hall is when we try to finish all your work, but if you don't get it done, you have it for homework. Ring! There the bell and everyone rushed out the door like a mad crowd. I bet the class won’t be as well dressed tomorrow as they were today!
As everyone came scampering in the door, there were a lot happy faces because it was a Wednesday. As everyone settled in we looked at the overhead and it said that we had to clean our tote trays. After everyone had put all their papers, folders, and notebooks away, we started our spelling pretest. This spelling pre-test was even hard for the smartest students! After everyone found out their scores, lots of people missed at least two! (IT WAS REALLY HARD!) Since we had a pre-test we got to have new spelling words. I got a bunch of hard ones for myself. I hope lots get 100 percent on the real test. After that difficult test, it was time for reading. Next we did an activity to summarize the story Sees Behind Trees. That took most of us about 15 minutes. When we were done with all of that annoying work it was time for Gymsic. In Gymsic today we did an activity where we had to go slow at first then get faster and faster. Afterwards was dancing to different types of music. When we got back to the classroom there were a bunch of happy faces because it was Art time! After Ms. Sanborn explained it we even got to make our picture (Beasts of the____). Since we had Art early it was finally Math, my favorite subject. In Math first we did twenty problems on our dry-erase boards. Next we did page eleven in our math journals. If we got done with our Math journals we could do MathCard on our Palms to practice multiplication. Then I finally said, “It is time for lunch!" In my lunch my favorite was Chips Ahoy. Next was everyone’s favorite time of the day: recess! Today I played football and we one. Finally it was time for News Bowl where we answer questions about the news. I could tell that everyone was having a terrific time playing News Bowl. Then it was time for the three one-hundred point questions! After all the teams put down their answers it was time to "Cross off and circle” in our planners. I wonder what tomorrow will be like?
All the students trampled into the classroom a tad bit wet because it started sprinkling outside when they were waiting to get into the school. The main chat this morning was about, well, nothing really! After we all got settled into the classroom, we checked Math Boxes. We had to switch with someone else. Next, we learned two new ways to add BIG numbers up. Last but not least, we did two pages. One was a Math Box and the other one was a page where you had to add 8 problems. That was the end of math. Next, it was writing time. We were doing something on our stories that we wrote. It was called revisions. I have no clue why it is called that but that’s what it is called. We got to do that with a partner. After that, we had music. We sang songs for the U.S.A. The songs were, The Star Spangled Banner and the other one was called “Fifty Nifty United States.” It’s where you say all the states in order. That was really fun! Next, we had reading. We read a new story called “Sees Behind Trees.” It’s about a boy who is a boy who lived in the forest. He needs to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow but he doesn’t know how to aim and he has to learn to get his adult name. In the end he ends up getting his name. It was really exiting. Lunch Time! Today we had nachos, Shaker Salads, and ... I really don’t remember what the third thing was because I had cold lunch. After we ate we all trampled over each other to go outside. My friends and I played football. It was so funny. Next, we had silent reading time. That was really fun. We read for 25 minutes. After reading time, we had units. We played Quizzler on our handheld computers to study for our ELO testing that starts this week. We could do social studies or science. I did social studies because it was so much simpler for me. Last but not least, we had study hall. We get to do anything that has to be done that we don’t want to take home. I did my art. I wasn’t the only one doing my art. Pretty much every one was doing their art because it was due tomorrow. After that we scrambled out the door, the day was finally over!
Today the Super Students sprinted into the room also shouting, "Good morning Ms. Sanborn!" In Math, we did Math Boxes and I almost got the darn thing done, but I didn't get it done! The next thing we did was writing. We made rough drafts of a narrative writing piece. We also wrote in our journals. Next we had P.E. and sprinted nine laps! Then we played Pin Guard for the rest of gym class! Then came spelling. Grooooaan! I was hungry so I was willing to do the work. Yesss! Then came lunch time! We were having delectable cheesy pepperoni! Then came silent reading! I was reading Trapped in Death Cave. Oh no, Gary was drowning! Time to stop reading and time for Units. Ah man, I was at the good part! Today we were doing Quizzler! I got 34 out of 36! One person got 57 out of 57-- amazing! Yessss! It was time for Rescue! for our teacher read book. In the book Josh found out that the Game and Parks Commission was going to kill Pokey! Study Hall! I was going to get my self-portrait done and I did! The day was busy but fun. Next it's Reanna's turn to report about our school day in Ms. Sanborn’s classroom!
Today everyone sauntered into the classroom. When everyone got into the classroom they did the work they are supposed to do when they get into the classroom. First off in math we checked our Math Boxes. Most of us got good grades. Were doing the Estimation Challenge when everyone got loud. My group were gussing miles from our school to Mall Of America. Furthermore we got out writing journals and wrote about anything we wanted. I wrote about my dad's birthday and my grandma's birthday too! After that we did QUizzler for about ten minutes. Then we had to show Ms. Sanborn our score. Furthermore we went to music. Some of us, like me, went to orchestra class but the teacher told us to go to music. When we got to the classroom everyone got loud and we had to give Ms. Sanborn a ticket. We got our reading tests back, and some people got not so good grades. After we got out our reading journals. We had to write about a book we are reading. Afterwards everyone did something while Ms. Sanborn got grades from everyone. A lot of us got good grades. A little after we got out our BINGO boards. Some people changed some words on their boards. Then we played BINGO. After we did spelling with dry erase boards. During spelling, some of us, like me, had to go to flutes. The flute people had to go to lunch before we go to flutes. Afterwards we did silent read for ten minutes, then we had to do Quizzlerr until Mr. Vincent came to the classroom. Furthermore Mr. Vincent came and all the other 5th graders came to our classroom and we played Who Wants To Be A Winner. We played two rounds, all about science and social studies. Miss Everts’ class had another MILLION point winner! After Mr. Vincent left my class had teacher read. We were all most to the middle of the book when we had to get ready to go. After the silent reading, we had study hall. I worked on my math. Most of my classmates did art. After the whole day of school it was the weekend and everyone walked out of school.
Today as the bell rang, if you went in Willowdale’s front door, as usual, you would be swamped with little kids rushing past you eagerly to get to class. Once the former Classroom Olympic participants had checked in, put away snacks and homework, and got settled in, we started working on a facts and opinions worksheet. In sixth grade math, we worked on exponents and scientific notation with our calculators. We have a lot of homework tonight! Today for writing we did a journal entry on problems we think are going to be big deals in fifth grade. Finally, time for P.E.! Today we ran eight laps and did a game sort of like a football play. There were receivers, passers, and defenders. Every completed pass equals one point. The red team won, 20 to 18. After that, for spelling, everybody put their spelling words on one side of a sheet of paper and the definitions on the other. For reading we read Time for Kids and another magazine on UNICEF. At lunch the choices were A: cheeseburger B: shaker salad and C: deli sub. At recess, (as usual) there was two-hand touch football, swinging on the normal swings, or screaming your head off on the tire swings. Today at 1:45 we played "Who Wants To Be a Winner?" on science and social studies. Today we witnessed the first ever student to get to a million points! Mr. Vincent, our host, was amazed! Today we met the counselor! Then we spent most of the time learning names and talking about injuries. This concludes another day in the wonderful, wacky world of Ms. Sanborn's room.
As everyone trudged in to the classroom, they all thought of the same thing: it's Wednesday! It is a short day, and we get out at 2:00. First on our schedule was spelling pre-test. After we all got done, we checked them, and then we played Tic-Tac-Toe with science and social studies Quizzler questions. After spelling, we were all excited because we got to change seats. There was a big commotion about everyone's seats. Everyone dreaded what was next: the reading test. But we all got through it in test mode, which means no shoes! After we finished the test, we all headed off to Gymsic. In Gymsic we played a game where you have to act like an animal that went with the beat we were listening to. It was pretty fun after that, because we lined up and did a line dance. After line dancing, we did science. We did Quizzler on our handhelds to prepare for our science assessment. We did that for what seemed like quite some time. After we finally got done with Quizzler, we did art. Art seemed to be the class' most favorite subject. For art, we did a Piccasso self-portrait. By the end of art, everyone’s stomachs were growling like crazy! It was time for lunch. We had delicious chicken nuggets. After a hot and sweaty recess, we came back inside and did News Bowl. It was boys versus the girls. We only did that for a little while, and then it was time to go home. We had a great day today, but what will we do tomorrow?
As the students came into the classroom this morning, there were some confused faces in the room. There was a visitor from St. Mary's College. She was there to observe a classroom as part of her teaching class at college. There were lots of kids talking about the Millard West game Friday night. There was also a lot of talk about the closing ceremonies for our Class Olympics that were to be held at 3pm today. After the pledge, we had math. Since I am in 6th grade math, I went down to Ms. Wischow's room. First, we worked on the problems on the board. Next, we checked our Math Boxes. After we had checked them, Ms. Wischow announced, "Today's lesson is powers of 10." That's what we worked on for the rest of the time. Next came writing. The journal prompt today was “What you did on Labor Day Weekend?” After everyone was finished writing, we had sharing time. During our next class, music, we played instruments and sang a funny song. As everyone trudged back into the classroom, Ms. Sanborn said, "Grab your reading books and notebooks." We learned about prefixes and suffixes. Then we tried to find prefixes in the book called, "Hot and Cold Summer." The next subject was the wonderful subject of spelling. It wasn't wonderful today though, because we had a test. I hope everyone got 100%! Next it was lunch/recess time. Today's lunch was cheese pizza, shaker salad, or PB&J. I was glad I brought cold lunch! At recess, I played football, but most of the kids played on the new playground equipment. After recess, everyone came back into the classroom. Most of us were exhausted. We settled down for silent reading time. The book I read was called "Trapped in Death Cave." After twenty long minutes of reading, Mr. Vincent came in and taught us a new application for our Palm. It was called WordSmith. We got keyboards for our Palm too. Another application Mr. Vincent taught us was tic-tac-toe. It is the same as regular tic-tac-toe, except your partner opens up Quizzler. It was cool to study science and social studies and have fun at the same time! Finally, the clock showed 3:00pm. It was time for the closing ceremony of our Class Olympics. Ms. Sanborn passed our prizes and my country, Japan, got a silver medal. At 3:30pm, my second favorite time of the day, we checked out and walked happily out of the room. Whoosh! The day seemed to fly by. Today we had a field trip to see a play and we had art. Today’s Wednesday so students get out at 2 o’clock! As everyone entered the room, they excitedly began to read what moms and dads had written in response to their letters. There were a couple giggles and several smiles, The morning assignment was easy: we simply outlined our line art and pasted the letters down. These are going to look fantastic! Today we got our first taste of the spelling pretest process. Ms, Sanborn says the words and then uses the words in some fabulous sentences. It's quite different for many of us to take the pretests on Wednesdays. It is 9:30 and Ms. French peeks in to announce the buses are here and we are off to our first field trip of the year! And we are off to the back of the bus and onto a two minute drive to Millard West where we watched the Nebraska Caravan put on a play about a girl about our age with several life issues. She was lucky enough to get to name her newborn brother, By the time we got back to Willowdale, it was time for ART! It’s almost everyone’s favorite subject. Today we found out that our eyes weren't really located so high on our heads. We are drawing and coloring self portraits. We are also including objects and outfits we love. By the time we finally got started, it was time for lunch and recess. Boy was recess HOT! It was 90 degrees on the first day of September. For the remaining 30 minutes of school we played News Bowl. We picked from categories and point values. It was fun and an “Olympic challenge” for our class, I can't wait to get to class tomorrow to see who won!
As the class scuttled in and proceeded to check in for the day the buzz of greetings, Fear Factor talk, and first day of band class day talk could be heard. After the usual point counting and Pledge the day was off! In math after checking yesterday's Math Boxes, we learned how to "Unsquare Numbers", guessing using a calculator is what we would soon call it. As a class we were able to figure out several of the larger square numbers and their square roots. The only thing left to do was the daily Math box. Soon enough it was writing time and boy what a fun journal assignment: Write a letter to mom and dad. The best part of the assignment was that they had to write back this evening at Curriculum night after listening to Ms. S go on and on about what goes on in the classroom all day. We listed so many things for our parents to look for, listen for and read, that Ms. S ran out of room on the overhead. Many took so long to write, that was our only writing activity of the day. Good thing many of us brought scrumptious snacks to munch on as we wrote because we wrote and wrote, In music we had a sub which meant no choir meeting after school. In reading we wrote a quick journal entry on what were reading about then as a class we skimmed, scanned and reviewer the brand new reading books. They were so stiff and new they smelled funny and barely opened. Several of the stories looked good, but some....well. It was fun afterward because we got to make bookmarks that Ms S is going to laminate. They have reading ideas on them that will help us improve as we read. LUNCHTIME! The aroma made my stomach growl just walking to the doorway of the lunchroom. It's always fun to see the kindergarteners eating. Boy, are they messy and loud. After a sweltering recess, we read from our books then we partnered up to complete a science packet about plants and animals. Good thing we could use each other and a dictionary. Due to the fact we had to clean up earlier that day Ms. S read another chapter from Rescue Josh , he found the bear cub, now what? During study hall there was a buzz around the room as Ms. S glued large pictures of us down on paper. Some of us were even wearing what we were wearing in the pictures. Thanks to the clocks being wrong at 5:15 we started to clean up and prepare for the big Curriculum Night, We took out books, journals, name tags and cut out flames? What a strange day not only because we never really knew exactly what time it was, but because we were in school longer because of those darn clocks. Who cares, we have our first field trip tomorrow! Millard West here we come! Mom and dad you better get your work done!
It was definitely a Monday because everyone slowly but surely trickled into the quiet classroom. I only heard a couple of greetings from some “rested” students. One, of course, being Andrew. After the usual Pledge and menu run down, we went through our point status for each country. Many students got several things signed which added to their points. Math started a little late and we began by grading our own Math Boxes. Today we learned all about what in the world “square numbers” were! They are not just a shape but when one number is multiplied by itself. There is even a fancy way of writing square numbers: with an exponent. As math winded down and writing began, Ms. Sanborn let us write in our journals about whatever we wanted, what a nice change! After those what seemed like two minutes but were really 15 minutes had passed we met down on the carpet for sharing time. Several of us shared our freewrites while others shared why we shouldn’t have too much homework or who we wanted to be instead of who we are. Andrew had a great idea of being Ms. Sanborn, let’s see her work! By the time we got through several of those we went to our seats and highlighted “good” words from Mr. Vincent’s previous class’ roving reports. Boy they did have some really superb word choice words and phrases! Way to go! I hope we will end up that impressive by the end of the year! PE time! Boy was it hot running today. After that we had a football competition for the Olympics. We chose someone to kick a football as far as they could and someone else on our team had to throw as far as they could. There are some good arms and kickers in these countries. Ms. Sanborn must have eaten a nice donut this morning because after the competition we got a recess. During reading time we took a test where we sat in “test mode’ which also means...NO SHOES! Yea! Devon got drawn to sit in the wheelie chair, lucky duck. Then lunch came and went but recess didn’t. Instead of going outside a Deputy Sheriff talked to us and showed a video about Safety Patrol. I plan on doing patrol so I can go to the baseball game in the spring. For the remainder of the afternoon we practiced studying for the Social Studies test on our Palms. We took the Quizzler. I can’t wait to take my handheld home. Only a couple more days. Finally it was 2:45 and up until today it only meant filling out our assignment book but today was different. Ms. Sanborn began to read from the read aloud book Rescue Josh Maguire. The cover has a picture of a dog, boy and a cub. I hope it is an outstanding book with a lot of action and adventure. Here it is 3pm and time for study hall. I am going to work hard to finish my work so I don’t have to lug home a heavy backpack. I’ll patiently wait for a few more minutes then its going to be the mad rush out the doors for these Super Students.
